I know people who have struggled to get planning permission for extensions yet the planning offices approved these monstrosities

They are terrible, white/grey exterior, grey interior. Generally have cars with the same colour scheme too.
Allergic to colour.

How about not having a sig at all?

Strange mix of "updates" which generally look rubbish, and what appear to be complete "destruction & rebuild"?

The white/grey trend is the crime against architecture of this generation. Absolutely horrific. I can see how people think it looks sleek and minimal, but it’s not, it’s just ugly. And even worse when that white paint is a few years old and the whole thing simply starts to look tired, drab and rundown. Yes, it’s a common trend in my areaMito Man wrote: Fri Jul 03, 2026 9:27 am I was looking at a whole thread of these yesterday![]()

Also, what’s the deal with the thick external foam insulation everyone is getting installed? I like the idea of insulation, but having a thick layer of plastic stuck on the outside of brickwork feels like a massive ventilation and damp problem waiting to happen

Also front doors. Anyone who installs anything other than a traditional style front door is certifiably mental. The only exception are bespoke, architect designed doors. Otherwise I’ve never seen a ‘contemporary’ off-the-shelf front door design which looks good.

Casa KCN in that list looks like a shit office building. Imagine being so fucking boring that's your dream home. Christ alive.
