Turns out the place I am staying has free parking. Seems like a no brainer to drive!

Yep, mousing over shows the temperature anywhere in the world. I had a good look around Antarctica to psychologically cool down.
The coolest bit is near live satellite image though and seeing the region of twilight rapidly moving.

Also the play button at the bottom is awesome, very smooth animations.

@dinny_g That clip reminds me of when they closed European airspace for 8 (?) days due to the iceland volcano dust cloud. Stations were rammed. Demand for space on trains vastly outstripped space on trains. Every time a platform was announced, (what felt like) 33% of the crowd moved at once like a shoal of fish evading a predator....

Climate scientist on social media saying “I just wanted to let you know that if you’re struggling with this heatwave, just remember this will be one of the coolest summers of the rest of your life”

It’s only a struggle because we are idiots about it. If this is truly the beginning as they say then might as well admit defeat and go about fitting AC to public spaces, allowing grants to include heat pumps which have a cooling function etc.

They’ve got AC in outdoor spaces in the Middle East and we’re not having it fitted to shopping centres because it’s going to kill the planet 🙄

Also the fecking buses started to be fitted with AC 10+ years ago and it was really nice, the latest EV ones don’t seem to have AC or even heating in winter. Great future proofing there.
