It would be better if we spent money on giving the kids support and social engagement off their phones rather than just sending subsequent generations back to the 80s for an arbitrary amount of time.

We've been "educating" people on what's best for them in terms of diet and exercise for donkeys years and look where that's got us.

For years it was also cheaper and easier to get a big mac meal than cook dinner though, I’m all for helping people make good choices. I’d be curious to know whether more people cook now takeaway food has got more expensive.

I doubt it very much with the amount of uber eats, just eat etc people zooming about.

I wonder how much depression, illness, energy issues could all be solved by just halving the junk food a lot of people take in.

I think we have 7 McDonald's within about 5 miles of where I live. Now a new industrial estate is being built a couple of miles away with and a load of comments we're hoping it was another McDonald's as it arrived cold when it came from Glinton

Well that was an emphatic win for Burnham in the by-election. I’m sure Starmer won’t step down and will fight any challenge from Burnham for the leadership.

Restore took some votes from Reform, getting just over 3000 to Reform’s nearly 16,000. Putting them in third place ahead of Tory, Green and Lib Dems. That’s enough to give Farage cause for concern about the further right votes being split.

In positive news, I went to an open night at my eldest son's school where my youngest goes once he passes his 11+.

I couldn't have been more impressed by all the kids, some piano being played which was incredible, all the kids running experiments and leading people about etc.

Lots of silly kids about but also a huge amount of well rounded young people who will do a fine job of funding our pensions when they are of the age.

On top of that, if the government makes the slightest change people get up in arms, because people are very attached to their favourite junk foods. Also, food is a bit like driving, most people think they know what they're doing, even when they don't.

Since the 1990s the government have proposed 700 policies to help limit obesity which have then never made it into legislation.
