Just bumping this thread as a bit of a PSA....

Coming up to the end of my first year and it's been a real eye opener so far and not always in a good way... but if there's one thing I would ask everyone to remind their friends and families about its carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.

Its 2026 and I genuinely didn't think this would still be a thing given the campaigns and how cheap & readily available they are, but please, especially with elderly relatives who may be on their own, make sure they have working alarms and detectors.

That. Especially if you have open flue appliances like gas fires/back boilers etc. and even more so if you have anything solid fuel. And if anyone mentions buying a flueless gas fire give them a slap and ask what’s wrong with them

Ahhh damn I thought this was going to be about Harley Davidsons 😄

All updated here, including a heat detector in the kitchen.
