Ah, yes, on the E39 they simply didn't bother at all 🤣 and that did bother me as I'm tall enough that the patch in the top right corner was in my line of sight. Dirt wasn't the problem, it was not being able to see properly while it was raining.

The E39 did have a clever linkage on the longer wiper IIRC, so it extended a bit towards the corner of the screen. Bit lazy after engineering RHD wipers on the E34 though. De-contenting was a thing even 30 years ago.

Pretty rich from them. Maybe they should have said "* however the angles may in fact be somewhat different as a result of us removing 10% of the chocolate from our bars".

The e39 is the only one I can remember not getting a wiper conversion.

E30,36,46,53 all have properly handed wipers. Haven’t paid enough attention to any others.

Our 87 mk2 golf has lhd wipers, only after this when they lost the 1/4 light front doors did they also swap wipers for rhd cars.

Unlike a normal park at the bottom setup where you swipe the water away then park at the bottom trapping the dregs below the blade
But the last wipe is to vertical, so it clears off the windscreen better with the dregs to the side?

It is, but it's also no longer a practical 4-door family car, which was mostly the point of the exercise.

And/or an EV sports car that looks like that and has an even slightly vaguely useful range is physically impossible right now because of the size of the battery.

The issue is Ferrari being quite coy with the dimensions and the purpose of the car. The much better looking render is a 4 door coupe. The Luce appears to be a practical 5 seater SUV, more akin to a bigger X6 or Model X.
It’s baffling really because that’s the kind of decision a manufacturer would make if they wanted to mass produce a car for a mass market to tick as many boxes as possible. Not for one wanting to make 1000 units a year…

So Ferrari are too incompetent to duplicate a Taycan?

Aesthetically, and mostly engineering-wise - yes.

But they’re €½m and will probably have a waiting list into the next decade. Overs market will be insane. The share dip is brief & based on the opinions of people that aren’t on the invite list.

I think it looks rubbish. I am not the target market 👍 I’d quite like a Taycan when they get <£20k.

Same happened with stuff like the Taycan and Cybertruck - initial excitement followed by serious buyers remorse!

The stock recovered after the CEO mentioned that the order books are doing well and customers are even transferring funds already for one.
I imagine they’re making a killing in terms of profit margin per car on this too. Half a million for a milk float! Everyone will be laughing all the way to the bank.

I did hear somewhere that there’s a new market of wealthy tech entrepreneurs who want full electric, have no interest in dirty V12s but still want exclusive and expensive cars. This fits the bill perfectly.

If the real thing has 23/24” wheels how big are the fantasy version’s? 😂

I don’t think people who bought a Taycan had buyer’s remorse due to how it drove or looked. There have been some technical issues I believe.

The rage about this from Ferrari fans is pretty funny though. Loads of it directed at the design team, as if they think nobody internally at Ferrari signs off on these things at different stages.

And a lot of the "fixed it" renders seem to ignore the fact that presumably there's a lot of design elements on this EV specifically to maximise range. You can of course still buy the other Ferrari models....

I was about to say that nobody is forcing them to buy one, but of course, I bet many of them will be in order to guarantee orders for the next new limited model.
Cheers,

Mike.
