Today’s want
Re: Today’s want
A Testarossa can be white or yellow if it's the single
Mirror version, to be fair a 512 TR should be black or red but that blue and orangey interior is a lovely combination.
In conclusion, lots of cars look good in lots of colours.
Dave!

Re: Today’s want
I'm not going to pretend I'm geeky enough to know what year the 512TR was launched (so I looked it up, 1991) but I still think of it primarily a 1980s design, as it carries over most of the prominent styling elements from the Testarossa with a few updates to make it look a bit more modern.Rich B wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 11:54 amTotally, i’m not saying my rules are particularly well thought through! It just “colours i like” in the end!

Like the F355 compared to the 348, then?

Cutting it pleasingly fine with the definition of 80s there!
“The Ferrari 348 made its global debut at the September 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show.”
I don’t like them in blue either though!
Re: Today’s want
I used to have a sales brochure for a Ferrari 348, my dad used to work in London doing underground cable jointing and just walked into the showroom in all his mucky work gear and asked for a brochure for his car mad kid
think you’d be escorted from the premises these days

I dunno... Ferrari Dealers know wealth whispers.
I was in the place down in Lyndhurst and there was a guy signing paperwork for 456 and his toe was poking out of his deck shoe, and his sock had a hole in it...

Re: Today’s want
I wasn’t referring to the date of them, though it still fits - it was the fact that the F355 was just a facelifted 348 but people consider it a different car, while the 512TR is considered just a facelifted Testarossa.Rich B wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 9:05 amCutting it pleasingly fine with the definition of 80s there!![]()

Re: Today’s want
I’m 100% sure I’ve seen a 355 in the same colour scheme as that 512 and it also looked amazing.
An absolute unit

I bet it did. Though crema hide please rather than orange.ZedLeg wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 11:36 am I’m 100% sure I’ve seen a 355 in the same colour scheme as that 512 and it also looked amazing.
If you could just explain why RichB is incorrect that would also be helpful.
Re: Today’s want
348 jaggy but 355 curvy, testarossa jaggy and 512tr still mostly jaggy.
512m curvier but uglier.

Re: Today’s want
Still daydream about these. Stoopid impractical, but the pace for the price always looks good.

Keep saving for something better or go cheap on this tidy looking Boxster now-ish...?

Re: Today’s want
Looks very similar spec to my old one. From what I read it’s the engine least likely to implode out of the 2.7, 2.9 and 3.4 but that was internet opinion.
Sold it during lockdown at 50k miles. I did really like it but always had the feeling of impending doom, rightly or wrongly.
At £10k, history dependent, I’d definitely have a punt on that though.

Re: Today’s want
A boxster for £10k could be great. Hard to answer your question as it’s a very personal thing > newer car should be “safer” (from a £surprise! perspective, but if you are looking at something a decade or so old…. who knows?

That Boxster looks good to me. If you’re wanting summer top-down fun you need to buy it before the summer… not after… obvs.

Re: Today’s want
Had a chat. It's in Southampton which is a fair distance so wouldn't be able to go until weekend after next - if it goes before then, it goes I guess.
The owners sound like proper porsche geeks (also owning a GT3 and 981) and it looks like the care has been pretty meticulous.

Not sure if you have the add-on that shows the price history, but he had it on at £10,695 earlier in May.

Interesting. I might ask to closely scrutinise the service history and the basis for the no bore scoring claim before tripping to Southampton.
Re: Today’s want
Pros are:
- it has Bose and Sport Chrono, sport seats decent mileage;
- is being sold from a Thatched barn conversion...
- Key is black so is a replacement later Gen 2 Key (good as it doesn't tend to open the bonnet / boot when in your pocket unlike the silver ones)
Downsides are:
- is it has grey leather seats
- aftermarket running lights (that can be fixed but presume you'd try and find second hand ones on a 10k car and suggests prior owners did not live at a thatched barn conversion)
- Steering wheel leather looks knackered which is a bit off on an 90k mile car
- weirdly looks like it doesn't have rear park sensors (can't see any circular marks on the rear bumper - I'd ask about that)
- that little bean bag on the centre console cubby looks like its to trap moisture so presume its seals are not great or the hood doesn't latch perfectly (mine did that and needed adjusting);
- exhaust looks a little low so may need rubber engine mount replacing (scrap that - its done 90k and very likely won't have had it done so will need it replacing - see if there is any clunking from behind your head over speed bumps).
ETA - those running lights will be £500 for a pair (excluding fitting and don't know if that's a bumper off job) https://www.design91.uk/p/fog-lamp-unit ... c0QAvD_BwE
