travel insurance?

I am off to Spain with my no1 baby in a couple of weeks, just a few days visiting relatives.
The kids have always been covered by our bank account, but she has turned 18, very selfishly, so I was gong to buy
a years insurance as I assume that is the way to go.

She may not go abroad for the rest of the year as she is off to Uni in September, but may go again during he summer.

Has anyone any recommendations?

I add mini Dinny to our bank provided policy each year. I think it’s about £35 or so

Make sure you also have a GHIC or EHIC card, otherwise you might be refused treatment (or charged) when abroad.

Check the terms as Nationwide cover your kids beyond 18 if they live at home and aren't married.

I buy a multi trip policy each year and rarely pay more than £15. I usually go through Moneysupermarket.

If you go through Compare the Market you get a year of decent rewards. 2-for-1 on Cinema tickets is a big saving over a year.

All I can remember about travel insurance is to use a reputable firm because the bargain basement places are as good as having no insurance when it comes to making a claim.

I’ve used Liverpool Victoria for annual policies in the past and they paid out fine when claiming too.

Worth thinking about the hassle of having to deal with 2 different companies if you have an issue when you’re away.

My approach has always been to use the comparison sites and choose the best prices one with a 5 star defaqto rating.

Other than the fact i don’t really know know who defaqto are and how they work out their ratings, it seems sensible to not choose a product that can’t achieve their top rating!

I thought they were ditched? Were they not the purple cards we got as EU citizens? - Ah, just googled, so a GHIC card replaces the one I was thinking of, cheers.

I got Admirnal Platinum multi trip for £17 with £20 million medical cover and a £50 excess. I have heard of them and they have the 5 star defaqto, I also have no clue who they are but tend to aim for this that have the high rating, jic I claim.
