I take care of bins at home. Mainly 'cos I don't enjoy asking the coonsil to come and pick something up just 'cos we are unable to follow a simple schedule, or making a special trip to the dump because we missed a collection.

Apparently my interest in ensuring we follow the schedule is interpreted by family mik as "you f'kin love bin day"

That is okay to admit. I have subscribed to the Council's waste collection calendar so I can always see what is due when.

My neighbours have a private collection so don’t move their bins, guess they have TOP SECRET refuse?. I rely on the council and take my bins to the bottom of the drive with handles towards the road. I try and bring them back asap, but get my bins cleaned monthly and they don’t put them back as I like them

ETA - I put the bins back to back, so when you open one the lid rests on the others top so doesn’t make a noise slapping the side and saves me 2 secs per operation

I have a refuse chute. One big glory hole in the wall by the elevator. Everything goes in, no recycling. It's bliss.

Shirley that doesn’t save them a few moments? They need to spin it back round to “handles oot” so they can then drag it to the truck?

No, I suppose it makes little difference, but if I left it the other way round, they would have to walk round the bin to push it, rather than pull it. I haven't given teh matter a lot of thought prior to this thread.

I got told off by the bin man today! The garden waste was admittedly a tad overloaded, but he took the time to tell me that it wasn't allowed like that. If the lid can't close, it is too full.
