I did watch that video a few days ago and was impressed - not so much with the power since it's not as if I use turbo mode very much on my Bosch bike - but with the price. The bike itself, with the kit on it, seems excellent for the money.

Interesting 6 month review of the PL here: https://www.bikemag.com/mountain-bike-g ... carbon-pro - similar motor and this stood out: "I’ve already chewed through one cassette, 4 chains, and a handful of tires in the six months I’ve been wrangling the Amflow." So that power and torque may be a bit OTT; wonder if it would suit a belt drive better?

i obviously use my bike differently to Jobbo (“trendy” riding) and use boost as often as possible. Mine has half the Nm of the Amflow!

I suspect that you’d not use the full power as much to conserve battery, but i bet it’s a laugh. You’d absolutely have to de-restrict it though.

From a review I've found you can switch it quite easily to class 3 mode (presumably in the USA) which is assistance up to 28mph. I wonder if the UK bikes will be as easy to adjust the mode on?

I do use turbo on steep climbs but I don't think the 100Nm upgrade made a massive difference over the originally 85Nm to me. Just choose a different gear. The more power you have the more you might as well be on a motorbike.

As the thread is here, we did a great trip 2 weeks ago up to Dyfi and BPW. We rode Dyfi first, the day started a bit damp but brightened up loads - which was great as Dan & Gee Atherton, Danny Hart, Bernard Kerr and Nigel Page were all riding too. It was good fun chilling in the queues and uplifts with them - though didn’t see many of their actual runs (would have lost them in 5 seconds anyway….).

“Dry” day for Wales!

All went well until my mate decided to have a go on the big step up on the old train line… went too fast and over shot it and ended up doing the biggest OTB i’ve ever seen. He got up and said his wrists hurt but we were just glad he was alive! We had food and beers that night and dropped him off at A&E the next day just to check his wrists were ok…. Turns out he broke both of his wrists!

BPW was great as always the next day - totally different vibe to Dyfi, but still good fun.

Overall, another great outing in the van - it did a family holiday to belgium the week after too and i still love it!

Yes, or he's going to have to get used to nappies for a while!

He’s only just started seeing a new girl 😬 - he’s pretty resilient though, he can do pretty much everything without too much hassle. No driving though.

All jokes aside, it looks pretty nasty. Hope he recovers soon, is back on the bike and hasn't had his confidence shot.

He’ll be ok, 10 years ago we did a trip to Revolution bike park and he had a stack where he shattered half the bones in his heel - that time we had to go straight to hospital with him! He has a big plate holding together the mess of bones in one foot now - they said he’d never ride after that one!

He’s a decent rider (definitely better than me), but sometimes gets a bit excited!

I’ve broken 3 small bones since I started commuting by bike

Speaking of, two years of daily use and lax maintenance is biting me just now. My bike’s spent more time on the work stand than its wheels this year.

Been using those rental ebikes in the meantime and I don’t like them tbh.

The electric stuff is pretty slow witted and seems to want to fire you into traffic at 25 kph. Still better than public transport though.
An absolute unit
