The bubble in a spirit level

Post by Mito Man »

You know when the bubble splits into 2 bubbles, you spend 30 seconds moving the level gently side to side but it’s still 2 bubbles, then you move it a bit faster and then there’s 4 bubbles. Then eventually there’s a big bubble and a little bubble aaargh bastard

The Wickes one was £25 and the Stabila was £80. I guess I know why now

We bought 2 for about £600 which would do 0.1mm over 10 metres 😎, they were lovely to use.

Lasers etc are all well and good but bubbles, water levels and measuring tapes don't lie.

If you buy cheap spirit levels check they’re still good by spinning 180deg and it should still read the same. I still check mine regularly even though they’re not cheap ones. If not the same in the bin it goes

My favourite :

Worked at a place that used exposure cabinets to do thing.

One of the guys told new boy (approx 21yrs old) that one of the tubes had gone in the exposure unit. Specialist fallopian tubes. Asked him to get a new one.

As they were specialist they were expensive - too risky to keep in the general stores area - they were kept at reception. Which was staffed by a pretty young girl receptionist……

I was nothing to do with it, but I admit I laughed like a drain for about 25 minutes….

You see all the tricks in the building services industry. It’s not so bad in the domestic side but apprentices on sites get hammered, never done these to anyone or had them done to me

In Danish a certain type of drill bit is called a hog's c*ck, and a smaller version is a rabbit's ditto. Always amusing trying to convince people to ask for that at the customer service counter. Non-native speakers find it very hard to believe.
