Just curious - would you feel as comfortable making similar jokes about other groups?

Take this with a big dose of “tell me to fuck off” but i sincerely hope we all would be comfortable making similar jokes about all our groups.

If someone wants to make a brits have bad teeth or French surrender a lot or the welsh shag sheep or “ze germans” or anything else, if it’s not meant as a direct threat/attack then i think we’re all fair game. It’s inclusive rather than exclusive imo.

But (a) this joke wasn't particularly funny (b) it seems that most people give no thought to whether it might be offensive (which I think it clearly is, for the reason given above) (c) jokes on this forum about any other minority group seem to be rare (although in fairness I do remember something about the Irish, or was it the Scots?) and last but not least (d) nobody is going round at the moment shooting at British/French/German people just because of their nationality, or setting their ambulances on fire etc etc etc.

So take this with a big dose of "tell me I'm too sensitive", but yes, my first instinct is to tell you to fuck off. Sorry!

I can see where you're coming from, and I applaud the sentiment. But it doesn't work. It isn't difficult to explain, but difficult to understand. If you've never been a minority in your own country, taught to always be on your guard, gone to school behind 20 foot barbed wire fences, and half-hourly police drive-bys, confronted daily with people denying your right to exist for no other reason than the faith you grew up in, then I don't think you can appreciate what something like that means.

That's part of my story, I'd like to think this place can function without using those terms.

though worth considering the plight of us English - we have such a divide among ourselves that it is now considered disgusting to fly our own flag because it has been adopted by the worst of our society. Pride in our own nationality has become a dirty idea - which is a shame, because the aforementioned worst of us are desperate to pin it on “immigration” or anyone who doesn’t fully resemble them, instead of realising that it’s just them.

We’re surrounded by countries that are proud of their nationality (scot’s/welsh/irish) but we can’t be for some reason (again, those dicks from the paragraph above).

Hopefully they’ll all just fuck off and we can get back to being a welcoming nation who can enjoy some well meaning banter with our neighbours from wherever they originate from.

I think we could probably all agree to leave any perceived racism at the door here, given the long history of, what 50, 100 core people? I remember being called out many years back for an equally innocuous remark. Also Chris is a massive tall bellend, so there.

I'm still casually looking at Caterhams as a future purchase. I'm not after bonkers power as it will be a road car so would prefer something I can rev out through the gears occasionally and not be doing licence losing speeds in a few seconds. I'm also looking at newer models so this brings me to the 1.6 Ford Sigma engine which has a maximum power of 152bhp

This one is nice, hardly used and I like metallic white cars. It's just had the price dropped by 2k too

That looks good value for pretty much an unused car. Is that even run in? If you’re not seeking 200+ bhp that would appear to be an excellent opportunity.

I've only driven two Caterhams, both on track and both had the 6-sp. It has a real character because of the quick shift-shift-shift but yes, the top ratio is pretty low so it would be wearing on a longer road journey. Wheels are easy to replace, gearbox less so - I'd definitely get a go in a 6-sp if you can.

The two I used on BaT days were an R300 and an R400 - R300 is a fine amount of power and that's effectively what the white one has. With a set of 13 Apollo wheels in black with the polished rim it would look even better: https://www.demon-tweeks.com/caterham-a ... ls-538564/

To state my obvious position John, get it bought. I've had two and of course now I want another. Being a massive tall bell end though, it'll have to be an SV. Maybe try both gearboxes. I love the six speed personally.

I, personally, find it very interesting from a sociological point of view that, aside from the few brave enough to post pictures of themselves, I have no idea what race or religion anyone is on here.

I've been posting here and on previous iteration of the board for 20+ years now and I have absolutely no idea.

I think it's because, given what we talk about and and how we communicate on here, it really doesn't matter so never comes up.
