Watched a couple of episodes last night, Flavio seems to be channelling that French bloke who was head of F1 before Bernie and was an even bigger prick.

Binged four episodes last night. Tremendous.

The characters are allowed to get under your skin in a lighthearted way across the first few episodes so when it twists serious you really care about them.

Aye, it felt slow paced initially as they introduced all the players (Given it's effectively a totally new world) but I expect when bingeing it, it doesn't feel so slow as when you're waiting a week for it each time.

New series of Paradise.

Good continuation from the beginning, with characters developing along the way. But, there's some seriously harrowing scenes, one in particular (no spoilers) that left me speechless.

One Piece S2

I never know what to think of this show. It seems half aimed at nine year olds, but has a not unreasonable amount of violence and swearing in it. I know it's a (particularly cartoony) manga/anime adaptation but it feels like there's some weird mood and visual whiplash in there - although S2 is better for the visuals than S1 for the most part, in that respect.

That said it's still really quite watchable for the most part, well paced, the cast are pretty decent (with some great guest casting) and because of the nature of the show, everyone gets to chew the scenery like they've not eaten for a month.

6/10, I'll probably watch season 3 TBH.

My 10yo is obsessed with One Piece. He's suddenly found an interest in Manga, and have bought some of the comics as well.

New season of The Capture on iPlayer. More CCTV deepfake action and counter-terrorism, who's-on-whose-side shenanigans. Thanks to @duncs500 iirc, for making me aware of this series originally.

It's a 10/10 show. I thought it was brilliant.

Casting was exceptional. It's incredibly difficult to balance absurd/hammy and not have it be cringe, and some of the performances in this season absolutely nailed this. Not only that, balanced action/humour/sentimental really well, and kept a decent pace throughout.

And there's character called "Tony Tony Chopper", and who doesn't need repeating first names?

Yeah, thinking on it a few days after, I got to the end of S2 and wanted more. And yeah, they've balanced the inherent lunacy of the anime and made it work on screen very well. I don't think it was entirely consistent in avoiding the cringe, but very much most of the time, absolutely.

For some reason I'm kind of annoyed that I enjoyed it, and that in and of itself annoys me because you should be able to enjoy whatever you enjoy, and I'm the one telling myself I shouldn't enjoy it, which is fucking ridiculous

And yes, Tony Tony Chopper is indeed the MVP - his backstory episode was really good, which if you were to explain it to someone in bare terms, it really shouldn't have been.

I think I should just embrace the absurdity and up my score to 8/10 given the context.

I'll take a look at that tonight as it looks different.

I can't recall it mentioned here but I just watched S1 and 2 of Paradise a post apocalyptic crime drama similar in premise to Silo but less Sci-fi if your not into that.

Well worth a watch and all episodes are available now.

We all should try to find as much joy in something as Francis finds in trains

Have we discussed "Last One Laughing"?

We're onto season2 now, but it's very amusing at times. No idea how they (generally) keep a straight face... :?

Recent example
i watched a few episodes from S2 with mates a few weeks ago. It’s an odd one, some very funny moments, but ultimately a slow and awkward programme imo. It was interesting how humour grows with interaction and reflection though.

I have no desire to watch more on my own - though i’d happily watch it with it with mates again.
