I fitted a spare wheel sub in the golf R. Removed the spare wheel. Shrugged. Nobody died. I was not left stranded.

Anyway, it's just another level of insurance.
The first time it happened to me in the Up I had to wait 3 hours in a cold country lane for a recovery truck.
The second time it happened, after a £35 spare kept in the boot, I was back on my travels after a quick 20 minute wheel swap.
Simiarly, my boss had a puncture at 8pm, and was told the RAC wouldn't be with him until after 1am. So he paid some local garage to come and fit a new tyre for him at some crazy rate as he couldn't wait that long.
It's just a roll of the dice. You may be lucky and never get a puncture.....or, you know. Owl.

Is it just the crap old cars I own, or have brake parts got really cheap?
After paying £55 for a pair of rear calipers for the mito I thought I could do with changing the front ones on the compact. I can buy a pair of nice shiny factory refurbed ones for £40. It’s probably £25 for a seal and piston kit to DIY, and then you’ve still got manky old calipers to clean up.
I hate the modern way of unit swapping disposable parts, and would usually much rather just replace the small worn or broken bits, but in some cases it just doesn’t make sense.

The Tesla wheel was repairable and looks great

So up one wheel.
Took the other rear wheel off as it needs a pair of new tyres and that looks cracked to me but it’s keeping air so maybe it’s just cosmetic.

That is not just cosmetic
. I presume the bead of the tyre extends slightly further than the crack and that’s why it’s not going down.
It seems to be the season for tyres, the wife struck a pothole last night and tore a neat hole in the nsf tyre of the i3:

I think a lot of basic stuff has been cheap for ages, I recall being able to get a whole f+r set of ECP’s Eicher brand discs & pads for my E46 Compact for under £100. Cast iron discs are very cheap but the bimetallic ones with the aluminium hub never went down in price and there’s usually barely any alternatives. They still cost a silly amount on my old and crap 6 series

Ive finally hit the magic 1,200 run in mile marker, I resisted sports mode up until this point and had kept the revs below 4k.
It's difficult not to compare to the m550i, especially as the dashboard and cockpit are pretty similar at first glance. The z4 is a lot more fun to drive but does feel slower, the gap is a lot bigger than I expected. I have previously owned 2x b58s with the zf8 gearbox (540 and z4) and I think that the 8 speed masks a bit of turbo lag which is obvious when pushing on, even if you change up at the redline.
Part of the thinking behind letting the v8 go was due to not really being able to use the loud pedal for more than a few seconds without it being into licence losing speeds, so you could argue that ive achieve this.

So after a lot of fucking about, I've failed to get the sub working. The head unit is outputting a signal, but the amp doesn't seem to want to drive the sub. I suspect the amp might be duff. Fired an email off to the supplier to see what they have to say.
Noticed the fans were coming on as soon as the key was turned to the accessory position. Done a bit of digging and it's either the coolant temp sensor, the air intake temp sensor or the gearbox temp sensor that's failed. Quickly checked the intake temp sensor (it's right on top of the intake plenum) and that's fine. I'll check the other two at the connector for the fan ECU. Knowing my luck it'll be the gearbox sensor as that's the most expensive and hardest to replace.

I took the Clio to Beaniesport again for its MOT last week and a yearly check over. I also had them polish the headlights and ceramic coat them. It's where Catchpole had his Clio overhauled and they are the best Renaltsport folk around.
Flying colours etc, I'll go and pick it up Saturday as it's over an hour away.
I think I'll tinker with it this month and fancybtryingvtontake a little weight out of it.
