Tron Ares
Some great visual effects set pieces, and those set pieces are well directed.
Everything outside of those scenes is a fucking embarrassment to all involved.
The main character has nonsensical - even by Tron standards - characterisation, and Leto doesn't have the charisma to even come close to making it work. Not helped by the fact that every time he was threatening a female character, I was thinking "well, he didn't have to act too much".
The rest of the cast are phoning it in, with a couple of exceptions that reach something aproaching adequacy.
Brave of them to pull sequel bait at the end, I can pretty much guarantee that ain't fucking happening.
A complete mess. Soundtrack is alright but it raise the film up like it did in Tron Legacy - neither the film not soundtrack are good enough to achieve that.
They should have just put it together as a visuals reel and stitched it together with screens of text, it'd have been less painful to watch.
4/10 - makes Tron Legacy look like Apocalypse Now and I'm only being mildly hyperbolic with that.

Re: The Movie Thread
I'd been listening to the soundtrack for a while before the movie came out and love it, so on paper, a Tron movie scored by NIN sounded like perfection.Beany wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 11:16 pm Tron Ares

Unfortunately the movie was a steaming pile of manure. I think I gave up after 30 minutes or so. I did like the style of the visuals, but the plot was nonexistent and the acting was pretty dire - although I'm sure having Leto in there meant I was predisposed to a negative view of things before it even started.
If someone could just make a cut of the movie with no dialogue that fits the length of the NIN soundtrack, that would be an interesting visualiser to have on in the background I guess.
Cheers,

Re: The Movie Thread
Yeah that's what I'm thinking too.
Apparently Leto was a fucking nightmare on set and that set the tone for everyone elses poor performance - no-one wanted to deal with his stupid method acting cringe. Demanding to be treated as Ares on set, and not listening to the director unless he described himself as Letos 'commander' - and his method acting practise clearly doesn't work as he came over so wooden you could make a fucking coffee table out of him.
Rumours abound that Disney lost near $150m on it.
Good.

I'm sure he was also called out for some less than lovely behaviour towards women just as the film was finishing shooting.
That aside, he just comes across as an insufferable prick.

Fackham Hall so very stupid, but the rapid fire puns and insanity worked for me. Laughed quite a lot.

Given the BAFTAs, I thought I'd have a look at this. Really good. A difficult watch at times, but does a good job of telling John Davidsons story from onset of Tourettes to where things broadly are now without particularly sugar coating the bad side of it, including suicide attempts and savage beatings.
Definitely not one to sit down and idly put on though, I'd say. Unsurprisingly, strong language involved.

Jurassic World - Rebirth
I knew I'd need to leave my brain in the kitchen for this one but after about 30 mins, my brain came back into the living room and said "Come on FFS... I'm wasting away with this shite, even form here"
Utter utter tripe from start to finish. Zero redeeming qualities. Plot holes you could swim a giant aquatic dinofish through. I'm stunned some of the cast signed up for this - I can only assume they were shown a different script until the contracts were signed.

My eldest stood up in the middle shouting that the guy would never be able to hold onto the boat while (insert dinosaur name here) was holding him.dinny_g wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 10:59 am Jurassic World - Rebirth
