Hutch wasn't recovering from a particularly crazy walk where he was ducking and turning like a Collie.

So x-rays and turns out he had badly ruptured his cruciate ligament.

Operation yesterday, a plate and re-jig of the bone and he is all fixed. 6 to 10 weeks of gentle work and then they said he should be as good as new. He will be as good as before and has no use for his cruciate ligament anymore so it's a permanent repair.

He is currently sulking and sleeping a lot.

GWS Hutch

Did you sort it through insurance? It’s a weird one where a lot of insurance companies class breaking their rights is the same condition as breaking their left

I'm currently sat on the money should the insurance company say no.

Looks pretty cut and dried though with DirectLine.

Our (late) rescue blew her cruciate on one rear leg. Had surgery and during recovery was naturally tending to carry most of her weight on the other rear leg..... which caused that cruciate to blow also. :? Both rear legs in the space of a month. Both sorted under insurance, but she needed a smaller follow-up op on the knee of the 2nd leg as it wasn't completely fixed. Can't recall whether the insurance were sniffy about that or not.....

Well he is lifting his good leg to go for a wee and the wound looks a week old already, we couldn't be more pleased at the minute!

Keeping him relaxed on his short walks is proving hard but not too hard to deal with.

Mik, it's because dogs are liveable dicks and this is how they test you 😂

So Mrs Mik has been struggling a little having only one dug, hence we collected a new squeaker today.

“Fox Red” Labrador (girl). Introduction was a little tense, as our Shepherd is very suspicious of other dogs, but all good after an hour or so, and getting better all the time.

Oops - forgot that bit - she is Flo (possibly short for Florence, but we’re only really calling her Flo).

She’s 9 weeks Si. Litter of 8, which we met 3 weeks ago and made our choice. Unfortunately I had to let all 8 climb all over me to aid in the decision process - not easy, but hey - someone had to do it…..

Puppy attack is one of the best parts of choosing a dog!

Hutch naming it, he's not happy at the diet though, he keeps looking sad when he sees how little is in his bowl 😂

Back to normal once he can actually expel some energy hopefully.

Hello Flo, cool name.
