Well that must rate as one of the most boring of the year so far.

Re: No F1 thread?
It was a rather boring race. Hamilton is in a league of his own, no doubt one of the greatest drivers ever.

Yes I am enjoying this season as much for putting to bed who is the better driver between pointy finger and 'lil Hammy (or whatever his producer name is)
Now I've said that watch him crash out in the final races and hand the title to Ferrari

DC raised a good point, the drivers used to be free to talk to teams and they did it all the time, but in recent years they’ve lost that and the driver market is no longer free but controlled by your association with certain teams.

Re: No F1 thread?
The Ocon thing is a farce, apparently he would have had a drive for Haas next year if Mercedes released him from his contract but they didn’t. Toto arguing that they’re too invested in him to release him so they’re keeping him on until they either find him a drive in F1 or he becomes undesireable and worthless like Weirlein at which point they can release him.
I would release him as he’s nothing special, he’s good but not WDC good so no point keeping him on, but he’s better than most the pay drivers so he deserves a seat.

Well that’s the death of Lewis’ championship hopes, he’s started seeing someone. Nicki Minaj, for those who are interested.

Can’t believe he’s bumping uglies with her
He has a crap taste in women, first he dates a much older tranny (Shitslinger), then he dated that scary woman who brought the Canadian GP to an end early, now that chubby Mingers who has a toxic personality by all accounts.
I get that being unique is his thing in F1 but being the only driver with a uniquely weird girlfriend isn’t that great is it.

Yeah but it’s pretty much guaranteed to happen at this stage.

Re: No F1 thread?
I thought both Bottas and Hamilton dealt with that really well. Bottas was clearly furious but kept his head and Hamilton was humble and magnanimous. But doesn’t that kind of sum up the problem with Bottas? Too controlled, no killer instinct.

He’s just not fast enough. It’s awkward when he’s lapping about half a second slower than the car is capable and pushing his teammate into the guy behind.

Re: No F1 thread?
He seemed to calm down in the interviews afterwards and acknowledge that he isn’t the one with a title hope let alone in the fight for it, plus Merc as a team aren’t comfortably ahead in the constructors and points mean prizes where that’s concerned.
DC called it, Bottas is paid millions and millions of pounds a year to drive Mercs car for them and put points on the board first and fore most. He’s had just as much opportunity in the same car as Lewis who is a title contender but despite that he’s only just moved to being third in the standings. If Merc had confidence in Bottas as driver then they’d have him on a multi-year contract just like Lewis, they’re just renewing one year only contracts so there’s other things going on which we can’t see that is behind that lack of confidence.

I’d happily let anyone overtake me for what Bottas is on, to be fair.

Re: No F1 thread?
Lewis trying to give him the winners trophy was quite touching to be fair. Calling him the best team player he’s been in a team in the post race interviews with looked pretty genuine too.
Re: No F1 thread?
Had to google his salary - $12 million if its true. He should just make the most of that and play the nice guy.
Let’s be honest Valtteri mate you’re not going to win a driver’s championship and it’s no small secret that Mercedes are looking to replace you, the only thing going for you is your complying wingman status so just keep doing that and try to get as many contract extensions as possible before you get demoted to a B team.
