The Grand Throttle House Tour

Post by Jobbo »

I see the continuation of The Grand Tour has been announced, with Thomas and James from Throttle House as presenters alongside Francis Bourgeois.

Since Francis is not really a car presenter, this does look very much like Amazon have simply bought Throttle House. And that's no bad thing in a way because their Youtube content is excellent; I really hope this is the next step for them. I'm not at all sure what Francis will add to it but he's definitely the light relief.

I will checkout Throttle House now on Youtube. I literally had no idea what a Throttle House was but something to do with cars wasn't top of my list of guesses.

I guess Francis' passion and enthusiasm will be what they're hoping to harness. His video with Monkey Harris following that steam engine was pure joy to watch.
Cheers,

Mike.

I assumed it was something to do with the Torture Garden.

Don't google that from work, for gods sake.

For a bunch of online car enthusiasts not to be aware of a good car Youtube channel which has been around for a decade and has over 3m subscribers, I am somewhat surprised. They're based in Canada, yes, so I only discovered them two or three years ago. But the presenters are good and the films are good even when you're not that fussed about the car in question.

ETA: but of course that does not mean they'll translate to their new roles. However, it does look like they are used to decent production already and the two presenters already get along, so there's a sound basis.

I'm often baffled by the "open goals" that Youtube misses. For all that it knows about me, I've never seen that recommendation once. I will be checking them out later though.

First time I'd seen them was when SJJ recommended the video with the
Spoiler
Harry Metcalfe, Chris Harris and Henry Catchpole
cameos 😬

I'm fully aware of who Throttle House are, I just wanted to reference the Torture Gardens and ruin peoples search and online shopping recommendations.

TH are one of the few car channels who can actually present. Been watching their stuff for a while, although admittedly I think I did get the first recommendation from here.

Most of the other channels for me is purely the content, and just grimace through the stilted presentation. Stuff like Joe Achilles is like watching some of my old lecturers who just used to read out slides from a board.

Francis will be there as the token posh, bumbling, socially awkward, slightly nerdy Brit, because that's how North Americans see us all.

No idea who Throttle House are.

Just watching some Throttle House, as has been said, no idea why I’ve never had it suggested on YouTube before. In terms of presenters I think these two could make very good replacements but as much as I enjoy Luke (Francis) I just don’t see him as fitting in. Hope I’m proved wrong.

Watched a few of their reviews this evening and enjoyed their humour. Their enthusiasm about 'the tame one' here is most entertaining
