On green cars, superstition aside, it was frozen green which isn’t great to live with imho. However a 2 car garage with a frozen green z4 and an m5 can would be quite cool.

Thanks for all the comments, it looks great in the metal. The roof also has a silver fleck which also looks good in the light.

Anyone going to the scramble next month?

Brilliant spec 😎

We regularly saw a dark green M5 touring with 2 tone seats and a purple 911 Turbo and the colours really popped.

Ordering new tyres for the Up, and putting the OEM alloys back on. Frustratingly, the Rainsport5 seems to have massively increased in price recently; I was seeing them for £80/corner, now over £100. Still, seems like the best value compared to the EagleF1s and PS5's for general day to day.

As the wheels are diamond cut and unmarked, anyone recommend some good wheel wax or ceramic coating I can apply to avoid the dreaded white worm?

Washed car. This converted the driveway into an ice rink. Didn't think that through.

You can’t avoid it, especially in winter. A stone chip will go through whatever coating, then the salt will corrode it into that pattern.
How about not having a sig at all?

I use GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour. Lasts much longer than wax based products I’ve tried in the past. Note Mito’s point however.

Had a bit of a wobble over Christmas. Found a car I really wanted, on auction, had a cheeky bid as a placeholder.

Quickest / easiest way would be to sell the e30, had a couple of offers which aligned with my thinking. Bit of a fire sale moment.

Didn’t win the car I was after, had a moment of clarity realised I had unfinished business with it and would find it tough to let go. May seem daft that it’s been sat abandoned, but it’s been a big part of my life and couldn’t do it.

It’s now moved up the priority list, it will be next in line once the golf is done. Even if it’s not finished I’d like to be able to drive it and see if I still enjoy it.

Unfortunately it doesn’t run again 🙄

Drained the old fuel, stuck in 20l of fresh and flushed a bit through. External fuel pump needed a tap to get it going with a direct 12v feed. It was making odd noises and there seemed a lot of air in the fuel coming out of the return line. Changed the pump. Definitely sounds a lot stronger but still a bit weird.

Had a poke about, turns out there is a lift pump in the tank too, the earth from it to the metal holder had corroded and broken. New assembly appears to be M3 specific and are £700. Managed to remove the old pump, and as I had a mk2 golf tank sat there thought I’d pull the pump out to have a look. One of those will work perfectly. New one on the way. Have a new pressure regulator coming too. I think the external pump was trying to do all the work and pulling air in through where the in tank pump attaches to the metal pipe work. With a full tank it completely submerged it probably would have been ok.

Let’s see what happens when some bits turn up…

It won’t be finished, but I’d really like to have it mot’d and useable by the end of the year…

I need to be better at separating on car and off car jobs, both on the e30 and golf, so I can still make use of my time when the weather is too crap to be working outside.

Projects just get overwhelming. Instead of making is useable you end up going "well while I'm in there this job is easier, then this, then that" and by the time you are finished a small achievable job has turned into a huge job with a lot more expense.

It's an achingly cool car, get it on the road.

Kodiaq has started throwing a 'Error: Airbag" message on startup. Booked in to dealer under warranty.

Not had much time to work on the 928, managed to fix a wiring bodge a previous owner had done on the rear hatch release motor that was causing a parasitic drain on the interior lights. Right rear suspension has developed a droop. Adjusted it and it was fine for a while but now it's back again. No idea what's causing it. Got to fit a new (to me) blend flap motor to fix the lack of heater. I'll probably fix the old one (4 transistors need replacing) and re-sell it.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

You forced me to look on google/youtube : I didn't appreciate that the 928 had adjustable spring platforms from the factory. 8-) (maybe not all varients :?: ) Assume you have a spring dying?

Dave, what's the current status of the 500E? Not a dig, I know you're talking from experience though.
