Eldest went full analogue with a silver/green combo. Youngest wanted an anadigi combi.

It’s a really expensive £30 odd quid Casio- It tells the time and that’ll do meit’s also not massive as my wrists are tiny, so big watches look ridiculous on me

John wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 1:02 pm I do like an Alpina and have come close to buying one a couple of times. I've probably mentioned this before but weirdly they occasionally pop up at TK Maxx.
A couple of my watches are well overdue a service but they get worn so infrequently I'm not bothering.
I picked one up on TK for sub £400 recently. Pleased with it.

I don’t expect it was their aim, but, that is one ugly cyclops mofo.
Re: The Watches Thread
That has to be a spoof. I’d buy one, for sub-£100, to be amused at the directions the tits are pointing throughout the day.

I'm not a watch guy at all, but this recommendation appeared on my feed and it's a very pleasant way to spend an hour.

The sales are in full swing so if you couldn’t quite stretch to £86k for the Hublot Square Bang Unico Sapphire then today is your lucky day as it’s reduced to only £64.5k at Goldsmiths

https://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/Hublot-Squ ... p/17171100
More sale stuff here and there are some decent reductions on Omega, Zenith, Panerai etc

Spend £64.5k on a watch made of sapphire crystal, that 99.9999999% of people will assume is made of plastic.

Re: The Watches Thread
Are all the flathead screws on it meant to be pointing in completely different directions? That’s pisspoor workmanship. A carpenter hanging doors will pay more attention!
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The Watches Thread
This never bothers me but I know it drives others mental. A screw is a functional fixing that has to provide a specific torque - it’s not a decorative element (for me).Mito Man wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 5:10 pm Are all the flathead screws on it meant to be pointing in completely different directions?

Re: The Watches Thread
Surely super fancy machining should be able to align the thread start points on both holes and fixings to all match so all screws line up the same when they’re at the required torque?

Re: The Watches Thread
I think you're expecting too much. It is only a £60k+ watch, if you want that level of fancy, it is at least six figures!
Also, it is hideous.

It really is the sort of thing you'd expect someone like the Fast Shows "Loadsamoney" character to wear.

Re: The Watches Thread
I think the actual fixings themselves look naff tbh. I’d rather hex or torx or spline or even Philips would look better than slot head. But it might just be a me issue, I don’t really like or see the point in any watch worth more than a couple of grand.

Re: The Watches Thread
I don't even think they're plain slot drives - they're security slot bits.
I had to use those to open up a cheap extension cable recently, they're about as classy as a chip butty.
