I shall find my DVD of Soft Top, Hard Shoulder and watch it over the festive period.

Well that's shit, and shit timing :(
Bob and egg; I don't think they revisited that when he was on Mortimer & Whitehouse go Fishing, will have to rewatch to check.
I hope he wasn't in pain. R.i.p..

To state the possibly obvious, he was a car nut. Loved Ferrari (made a film about it https://www.timeout.com/movies/la-passione) and used to race 7s. Always thought the painting of the 7 used for Auberge was particularly nice. Great bloke by all accounts. RIP.

Met him a few of times - he was a good mate of my classic car boss, who grew up with him. He always used to turn up in the showroom for a drink and a chat at Christmas.

Came across as a really nice guy, and had a few fun car stories from when they were teenagers.

RIP

I'm very sad about this. I'd been listening to Auberge at the weekend and hunting for a copy of Dancing Down The Stony Road as I can't find it on Spotify. He probably spent the entirety of the 21st century on borrowed time.

This video is a great illustration of who he was

My mam always speaks fondly of him and his father serving her coffee in Rea’s ice cream shop after working 12 hour nights as a trainee nurse in the hospital.

His dad used to complain that they were sat there too long only buying a coffee, until they said they were just poor trainee nurses and showed him their wage slips. They never paid for coffee again
