I've just done a 1,261 mile road trip on my bike and in places I was seeing EUR2.20/litre! I mostly filled up in small towns where there's an Intermarche or Carrefour and was still paying between EUR1.79 and 1.85.

Diesel much cheaper, a good 20 cents per litre. But then they do like a stinkwheel over there.

Local Esso have changed their chip and pin terminals to basically the same system as restaurants. The cheeky gits ask if you want to pay a tip! Maybe if you give me free lube.

What is the rationale for diesel coming back down nearer to the price of petrol ?

I dunno what is going on at the minute, but I've been doing some miles in the last week or so and the prices seem to vary much more than normal. I've seen anything from £1.32/L to £1.50/L (just in towns, excl. motorways).

There was an investigation into supermarket fuel prices and the big four got a wrist slapping, and Asda got fined about half a second of turnover, might explain some of it.

Oil prices falling for months. £ going up for the past 3 years (weak £ was their excuse last time). Petrol prices seem like they've been at 1.41-1.45 all year

It’s so when they add the 5p duty back on they can keep the prices the same and claim to not be passing it onto you

I saw 1.54 in Wymondham for Diesel this week. Still 1.37 in Woolpit tho, petrol in the 20s still.

I went to see my dad in Hampshire a few weekends ago. Didn't fill up at home because I thought prices would be lower near the Fawley refinery. Were they fuck.

Supermarkets often aren't the cheapest near me now. The cheapest places tend to be small independent garages; Valero branded, Harvest Energy branded or (famous locally for its prices) Callow Oils' place in Chaddesley Corbett.

I might be late to the party on this, however I love using the Shell app to pay at pump. Drive up, select the pump and payment method while still in the warmth of the car. Fill up quickly then drive away like you stole it

Weirdly there are no Shell garages near me now - the couple that were have re-branded, one as an Esso and one as an Asda.

Asda have been buying and selling forecourts all over the place. I’ve lost track of whether the Issa brothers are trying to expand or not.
