It is truly amazing how there never seems to be any losers on crypto.

I lost about £300 in 2017.

I lost some money in crypto back in 2020 before I rejoined this forum. I was faffing around with trading and various random schemes. Was trying to make a quick buck, which I did breifly during the 2020 bull run, before then losing some money and learning the hard way. Ever since then it's just been a solid way to get strong returns by playing a long, safe game.

Crypto survivor bias. You should go on Reddit and read some of the horror stories of the few who are brave enough to post their failures. These kids have debts that'll take decades to recover from.

Mug? They're 130% up compared to the price I said to buy at. I sold mine and banked the profit, but they're continuing upwards.

Bitcoin now down 30% from last month's all time high, and also gone below the 50 week moving average. Uncertain if this is a correction or start of a bear market/winter. If it's the start of the winter then it shows that bitcoin is really slowing down in terms of gains.

If it didn’t have big swings, it wouldn’t create the illusion of “get rich quick” and the general public wouldn’t be lured into buying. You need the drops to get everyone excited about buying the dip.

Looks like Trump’s tariffs are finally taking effect as retailers can no longer absorb cost. No idea what it means for any crypto stuff though. Gold still king.

Totally, and that volatility appears to be slowing down as larger institutions buy in. A 30% drop is totally commonplace for BTC, however the bull market prior to this drop hasn't provided anywhere near the same upside gains as previous bull markets.

I actually think the encouragement of investing in a&s ISA is a good thing. Unfortunately education is lacking so there's some fear. Having taught myself I understand why. You'll also make mistakes which is why people are happy with low interest rates as it's better than losing lots.
