Re: Mental Health
Were you far off? I had mine checked last month and it was 71.5nml/L which is below optimal, however the optimal range in the UK starts at 75, so it wasn't far off - although I guess 100+ is probably a really strong level. Been smashing the high dose Vit D since then to get it back up.jamcg wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:41 pm Have you had your vitamin d levels checked Gavin? Just went back on my records to check what it was when they first tested and it was 31 so a little lower than yours
Re: Mental Health
Min was 19 when I was diagnosed...
7 weeks of High Dose Vit C and the Mid day walking got it sorted again

Re: Mental Health
I never stopped the daily VitD supplements, since COVID days. 2000 in summer, 3000 now. No medial evidence it helps but I sure feel a bit more stable mood in general.
Re: Mental Health
I just take Centrum 50+ and try to get out for at least 20 mins each lunchtime
Re: Mental Health
A broken record I know but....
Had your Testosterone checked ?
Mine sits between 25 and 30 now which has been absolutely life changing.

No but I think I need to - our practice is an absolute shitshow so I've had to sort out my ongoing prescription first, but now that that's sorted, I need to move onto a few other things - including the Prostate Cancer checks.
You can't do more than one thing at a time in our Medical practice and if you try, you can often find yourself with cancelled appointments.

I was at 22.8 last Jan, which is high enough to be regarded as totaly normal.V8Granite wrote: Tue Nov 25, 2025 11:51 am A broken record I know but....

Also with the VitD, i hope we're all talking about the same units
NHS guidelines are:
<25 nmol/L – DEFICIENT
25-50 nmol/L – INSUFFICIENT
50-75 nmol/L – ADEQUATE
>75 nmol/L – OPTIMUM
and then dangerously high is 375nmol/L
Doctors advice is 1000IU a day is safe for everyone to take, regardless of whether you've had a test. Higher than that should be safe, unless you already have high VitD, and don't take more than 4000IU.

Re: Mental Health
I've now done three weeks with zero dairy as an elimination diet to see if I have a hypersensitivity, I should re-introduce some dairy soon and see if I react. I also got an IGe blood test for cow dairy allergy and that came back as 0.10 which is negative for an allergy. For the last week I've been plant-based for 95% of my diet, while focusing closely on hitting the right micro/macronutrient splits, plant-based really does seem to work for.
I've also been taking VitD and using a SAD lamp for a week.
On top of that I resolved a problem in my personal life that had been going on for around for 10 days.
I feel great now, although fcuk knows which of those interventions has actually contributed
all I know is that I usually feel like hibernating or crying at the end of Nov/Dec, and I don't anymore

Re: Mental Health
The human body and brain is a complicated pain in the are isn’t it?
There’s nothing that makes you feel as awesome as the lift following on from experiencing absolutely soul destroying levels of stress.
Unfortunately it’s not worth how unbelievably shit you feel under that stress, not to mention the 25 years it probably takes off your life expectancy. Added in that many men don’t survive long enough for the weight to come off
Plus 2 weeks of stress equals about 20 seconds of feeling great afterwards
Keep looking after yourselves

That's a really nice level to be at, did they also test your free testosterone ?Gavster wrote: Tue Nov 25, 2025 1:02 pmI was at 22.8 last Jan, which is high enough to be regarded as totaly normal.V8Granite wrote: Tue Nov 25, 2025 11:51 am A broken record I know but....

Also with the VitD, i hope we're all talking about the same unitsI was 28.6 ng/mL which is 71.5nmol/L, and I think NHS uses nmol/L, whereas the tests I had at a private hospital in Turkey last month were ng/mL.

25-50 nmol/L – INSUFFICIENT

I had 10,000IU vitamin D pills given to me by the doctors but all my levels came good when I started on TRT.
All my issues started after my Covid jab, so tinfoil hats at the ready.
