Apparently the Mansell one was being sold off for £20 recently. After pre-ordered that at full price because I thought it would be highly in demand, I think I'll hang on for discounts on Schumi. Never liked the grooved tyres on F1 cars either so I know they're right but it makes the model less appealing.

I don't think I've ever bought myself Lego, certainly not in my adult life, but after recently doing a bit with the daughter I've decided to treat myself! Serendipitously this popped up on an advert and I couldn't resist:

I built my Mansell one recently, its a lovely display set Now I just need to order two more rear wheels/tyres to upgrade the Macca.

I’ve been building a few things from Rebrickable recently. Upscaled 1980s race buggy and driver for instance - inspired by Minifig Jez on YouTube. Just ordered a load more parts from Bricklink for an upscale Homer Simpson and a large size Brickheadz style Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.

I’ve also bought a couple of copies of some recent sets cheaply to modify and expand them - the City tour bus from last year for instance, which I’ve expanded in length, added an axle and modified the upper deck to provide some weather protection.

Feels more like Lego as a kid - building stuff other than just making the set. Great fun when you have plenty of pieces.

Lovely stuff yeah, I got quite into making a diorama for the odd thing, a sand rally stage for the Speed Champion Quattro for eg. Picked up the Lighthouse just before Xmas, and got the latest Modular on order through staff orders this month (plus the latest DeLorean/Cars and Lego City tractor - superb little set that).

I paid full price on 2 January for the new tractor, I liked it so much. It's a great set, amazingly good looking.

Now I'm starting to investigate storage for bricks. Previously I've always kept them in full sets in original boxes, in a ziplock bag after dismantling, but now I'm starting to acquire a decent quantity of loose parts from Bricklink I'm going to need something for those.

Depending on how granular you want to be, the Really Useful Box system works well. We've got two stacks of five, with bricks sorted by colour (ish. Children are involved so it is more an ambition than reality).

I've had a look at those and they seem to become pricey pretty quickly and I'm not sure where I can view them in the flesh. I do like the clear transparent type of boxes so you can see generally what is in them.

Might pop to Ikea after work at some point; I've seen the Glis boxes recommended and they're £4 each so not particularly pricey: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/glis-box-w ... -60604120/ They are bound to do other storage too so I can have a good look - even if I don't get it from Ikea I will at least be able to get an idea of sizes which would help me decide which of the Really Useful Boxes is most useful.
