Randomness
Re: Randomness
It’s surprising that the windows still roll down, don’t think I’ve seen that before on an armoured car but then again I haven’t seen many armoured cars.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Randomness
I know Charles used to drive an Audi A6 Allroad but that 7-series is an abomination.
Re: Randomness
What goes through peoples heads? How much entitlement must you have to think you can ring 999 because you can’t work your car?
Re: Randomness
I think there's more confusion there; it sounded to me like he'd pressed the SOS/EMERGENCY button - rather than he dialled 999 himself - probably thinking it's like the concierge service that some manus. have. The line may have been bad enough his end to miss a couple of things the call handler said, mistakes and misunderstandings happen, but there was a point in the middle where he seemed to grasp he was through to the police and then argued the toss over "emergency" and became condescending and sarcastic... I hope someone had the time to send him a strongly worded letter (must resist starting it"Dear Cunt,")

He probably had the window down so he could say something to the cyclist.IanF wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 7:49 am King has a 7-series!.. I’ve seen him in an old Rolls before, but this feels incongruous and I reckon he should have a Flying Spur (think there’s a hybrid version)
It was his birthday yesterday, anybody on here share theirs with him?

Re: Randomness
Saw this dashcam video (6m 40s or so onwards) where the police could have caused a bit of a worse outcome with their tactical stop (pit manoeuvre).
Amusing to see that the driver was added to the sex offenders register. Careful out there.

Re: Randomness
Yup, he was meant to be on his way to court for what I believe is known as Quite A Lot Of Noncery:

My parents did exactly this recently with their Mercedesnuttinnew wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 12:47 pm I think there's more confusion there; it sounded to me like he'd pressed the SOS/EMERGENCY button - rather than he dialled 999 himself - probably thinking it's like the concierge service that some manus. have. They pressed the SOS button, assuming it would connect to a Mercedes car centre for vehicle support
Re: Randomness
I’ve done that in the Tesla. Nice on a motorway when you’re almost fully braking, see a car behind you not paying attention. Go to press the hazards and hit the SOS instead. Couldn’t cancel it either, went straight to 999 rather than a customer service thing

Re: Randomness
Understandable mistakes chaps, and I'm sure apologies were freely given rather than going Mr. Tourette about it.
Re: Randomness
I’m glad you explained it. YouTube clip videos intentionally lack context but I did think it amusing that bad driving could lead to the sex offenders register.Beany wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 1:46 pm Yup, he was meant to be on his way to court for what I believe is known as Quite A Lot Of Noncery:

Guess that answers my question”Why didn’t plod intervene” point.
That could have ended horribly for the silver car comming off the roundabout (Citroen C1??)
Re: Randomness
Genuinely quite lucky it didn't and one of the reasons we don't follow the US doctrine for police chases. Just look at the stats for people killed in them.
Mostly, people who aren't the suspect...

Re: Randomness
Guess I was wrong about the bloke then, sounds like he just wasn’t listening and understanding he was essentially talking to 999 and not a manufacturers call centreMito Man wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 2:45 pm I’ve done that in the Tesla. On the note about accidental presses, my focus has a little dropdown cover over it, opens a bit like a roof mounted glasses holder to prevent you doing that

Race car drivers not yet at risk of being replaced by AI
