Wonder when the last time max went out in Q1 with a dry track / no yellow flags / no stoppages / no mechanical failure was?

Think they said in the quali highlights that I watched that's the first time since he joined F1 that he's out in Q1 purely from lack of pace.

I'm enjoying how much the momentum has swung between Piastri, Verstappen and Norris this year!

Just looked it up, and according to Wikipedia, for Sotchi 2021 quali:
Max Verstappen received a three-place grid penalty for causing a collision at the previous round. He was later required to start the race from the back of the grid for exceeding his quota of power unit elements. Verstappen neglected to set a qualifying time because of his penalties. However, the penalties did not affect his last position.

That doesn’t really count either then 😄

I’m sure they said something like, from all the GPS that both Lewis and Max have competed together in, it’s the first time neither of them have made Q3

No doubt mbs will throw in some surprises to keep it close into the last round.

But yeah, pretty much a champions drive there.

Fastest in practise, sprint pole, sprint win, gp pole, go win. Can’t really do much more can you?!

Still though, P2 for max, undoubtably helped by some good luck amongst the chaos, but RB always seem able to capitalise on it.

I haven’t seen the post race, but seems like harsh penalties on Oscar and Lewis.

Yep, very harsh on Oscar. All three were level on corner entry, Oscar was backing off as he got squeezed, had a slight lock up but didn’t drift wide at all, held it tight to the inside line. It’s where the rules are stupid, because he was behind at the apex it’s his fault 🤷🏻‍♂️

Time to bring in an AI steward I think. Can’t be any less consistent than the current lot and at least it would remember the precedents it sets.
I also thought Oscar got squeezed, it was a 50/50 incident.
Lewis getting a penalty was odd too, usually if the other car is unscathed they don’t pursue it further but they did this time. I guess Ferrari expected it hence they kept him out to serve it.
It also took the stewards far too long to start investigating everything.

Enjoyable race. Lando's had serious pace lately, he really just needs to keep it tidy until the end of the season now. But the level of pressure for a WDC can do funny things to people.

Oscar has nothing to lose now, pressure is off in some ways, be interesting to see if his pace will ramp up.

Drama at Ferrari after the big boss stuck his head in the sand and told the Charles and Lewis to shut up and drive the car

Interesting that both drivers posted within a few hours of each other, Charles on about unity and Lewis backing the team. Must be some kind of rift with the upper management but not how you run a team is it?

You made a car that only works by running so low it’s destroying its skidblocks and getting disqualified from races, but yeah it’s the drivers fault

Ferrari has always been the same, they don’t take kindly to criticism at all, hence why Harris was banned from reviewing the road cars for a while

This vid popped up on my YT recommendations.

How come I never noticed one of the Ferrari mechanics doing a running headbutt into the wall, shortly after he told Filipe Massa's family he hadn't won the championship

I am also shocked about that Marv! I thought that was one of the most famous things that happened that year.
