Re: EV Thread
I had completely forgotten about that twingo
weird looking rear engined, smart forfour in a Renault dress. Not surprised they didn’t sell many. Can’t remember the last time I saw a smart version either.
Small cheap cars can sell well here if done right. Toyota, Peugeot and Citroen still sold plenty of normal small cars while also selling the aygo/107/c1, vw up & polo.
Seems Renault don’t seem able to get it right.

Re: EV Thread
If it's as small as a Zoe with some more character it will do well.
Small cars are great with occasional seating for 4 being important but doesn't have to be comfy for long journeys.
My Mums Skoda Citigo is fun in its own way and is a great everyday car and fits the kids in when needed.
Hopefully Renault keep it up but with new designs too.
Dave!

Re: EV Thread
Mk1 wasn’t sold here and only made in rhd
Mk2 sold reasonably well and was made into the renaultsport which is a great fun little car
Mk3 was a smart forfour in Renault clothing

I’ve seen about a million new R5s so far, so i think they’ve nailed that one. This one has some character too, so if it’s priced right i think it’ll do well.

Smaller than a Zoe. About a foot shorter and a bit narrower too.V8Granite wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 7:38 am If it's as small as a Zoe with some more character it will do well.

I'm looking forward to the Honda Super N as well. The N-One it's based on has a ridiculous amount of room inside for the tiny size.

An absolute unit
Re: EV Thread
I liked the Dacia Hipster concept but Dacia want to build it simpler than the current regs allow. They are lobbying the EU to remove some of the active safety features that have been mandated to make city cars more affordable

Re: EV Thread
Yeah that Hipster concept is cool. Dacia is doing quite interesting things with cheap EVs imo. I’ve seen more of those little Spring things than I might’ve expected considering the range.

Re: EV Thread
There's a bus route crossing our road, and until fairly recently it has been whatever the standard small diesel bus they use for local routes. Coming up the hill they make a lot of racket, we're about 50-60 metres from where they cross, but you're never in doubt about when they're nearby.
Of late they've switched to be electric buses and the difference in noise levels is significant. That's a very nice change!

Stagecoach in Stockton has swapped to a full fleet of electric busses. Would hate to see their electricity billDeskJockey wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:18 pm There's a bus route crossing our road, and until fairly recently it has been whatever the standard small diesel bus they use for local routes. Hope they’ve got some back up generators or there’ll be no busses if there’s a power cut
Re: EV Thread
I'm (un)lucky if I catch a bus a couple of times a year but last week I also had a ride on an electric bus, flying cars next

All the Uni 1 buses here are electric. Feels nicer and the heating works just as well.
Re: EV Thread
Proper infrastructure, good connections, 3 phase charging, known daily route lengths. The perfect use case for electric.jamcg wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 11:58 amStagecoach in Stockton has swapped to a full fleet of electric busses. The buses are all named by Cambridge primary school children. This morning I was on board The Peregreen Falcon.Explosive Newt wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 2:24 pm All the Uni 1 buses here are electric. Feels nicer and the heating works just as well.

Faster 0-100kmh than the 918
And 3.5T towing capacity.. new elec FFRR is only 2.5T, so this may end up being the horsey types vehicle of choice.
