I was shocked to see that. Someone I enjoyed watching back in the day, definitely part of my automotive history. Way too young. :(

From Reddit, impossible not to hear his voice in the quote:
Always remember a funny story about him from Richard Porter's (wrote most of the Top Gear and Grand Tour scripts) book about Top Gear.

Him and Andy Wilman has been invited to some kind of gala event, and Wilman, a notoriously scruffy man at the best of times, insisted that normal suits would be fine. The pair of them turn up looking like a couple of businessmen about to attend a conference.

To their horror, the event is actually a black tie event, so they stand out like Del Boy and Rodney when they turn up to the wake in full fancy dress.

Quentin walks up to them, eyebrow cocked, and intones "and _this_, is why you _always_ read to the bottom of an invitation.'
Always liked his dry presenting style. I met him on stage along with Jeremy and Tiff on stage at the motor show in 1995 and they were all lovely.

This clip of them together springs to mind.

That’s incredibly sad. I wish we’d seen more of Quentin in the recent past; 68 is way too young to go.

I also bought my Puma substantially on the basis of that TG clip and always felt sorry for Quentin who had a very raw deal in the back seat.

RIP to someone whose influence was, I think, far greater than he even knew himself.

Ahh, RIP Quentin. I really did enjoy the era of classic TG he was in.

I didn't know his age, but now it's been in the news I guess they won't put a private plate on his headstone. R.I.P..

Because of the driving? Or because there's fuck all leg room back there at the best of times, never mind behind Clarkson....made for decent boot space though.

68 does seem to young these days.

That's very sad to hear, 68 seems way too early, fuck cancer.

That Pump clip was also the first thing that came to my mind, nice to see it popping up again.
Cheers,

Mike.

He was a heavy smoker by all accounts.

Had the opportunity to go to an event he hosted at The Motorist and passed up on it. Wish I'd gone now.

RIP
