If anyone wants a sensible diesel hatchback (no one I'm sure), mine is up for sale and the auction ends tonight:

Re: The ebay thread
It’s an S8. Which I think is preferable. Though it is £5950 so has he out the price up?
Re: The ebay thread
How to make some amazing cars look utterly utterly shite, not sure even jobbo could love these colour schemes

Re: The ebay thread
I'm guessing that when you talk about fuel use you quote it in GPM.

The ad still mentions the fabled 750-850 bhp, which is somewhat optimistic
Re: The ebay thread
If you had bought it I imagine you'd want to sell it again pretty quickly. There's one man who really wanted to own it and that was John Dodd. Not sure anyone else would get quite the same pleasure out of ownership.
Re: The ebay thread
I think its one of those things as well where the generation that thought "merlin engine in a car, yeah!!" (i.e. Jay Leno) are largely gone or on their way out so the market likely shrinks by the year.
Re: The ebay thread
True. Very recent vid of the SD1 that runs (pretty much) the same powerplant below, except he's now supercharged it (not crazy boost levels) and has measured 600bhp at the wheels. So probably 700-725 at the flywheel - with some boostGG. wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:15 am I think its one of those things as well where the generation that thought "merlin engine in a car, yeah!!" And most dissapointingly, both this and the Beast absolutely fail to replicate the glorious tones that a Spitfire produces.
Re: The ebay thread
I watched that SD1 video the other day and it looks great on those XJ220 wheels.
Take the stupid engine out and put a nice V8 in.

An absolute unit
Re: The ebay thread
I read PPC when they had the original stories about fitting the engine in the SD1. I don't bother watching the videos now because, like The Beast it's a bit of a past era thing.

Re: The ebay thread
Good point, the relevance of the engine appeals mainly to people who are quite old now, and the styling of the car falls into the same. It's quickly going to become a dinosaur.GG. wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:15 am I think its one of those things as well where the generation that thought "merlin engine in a car, yeah!!" Re: The ebay thread
Yeah, I thought it just needs the engine putting on the stand and the rest binning tbh
Cheers,
