I was all for tempting the Mrs towards one of these but it's just 3 door for now, which might be a hassle she won't want to have with little kids.

I don't hate it, but the previous shape Jimny/SJs have been their own vehicle. This is a bit of a pastiche.

It would make me want to do some off roading in it, for sure. Same as before I bought the Yeti, I was looking at Nissan X Trails (old shape now). Loads of videos on youtube of them doing fun stuff, most in former Soviet states iirc.

Currently got name down for early test drive as soon as they land here - Mrs all but sold on the idea. Plan was to chuck the bikes in it for the weekend and use it as a cheap commuter during the week.

And then this morning I saw that it's basically ruined it all with really poor crash test results. :(

Isn’t a lot of that crash test score just down to how much electronic safety stuff there is and a pedestrian safety score, not how well it would physically protect the occupants?

I may try and convince the in-laws they want one (alongside their brand new Kia Venga and a couple of Morris Minors). FIL currently uses an old Micra as a workhorse/carry-crap-around vehicle, so this would be an excellent replacement.

Yep looks like it did alright in protection terms although still not amazing - https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/suzuki/jimny/33370

They really need to split the scores into a better system with one number giving you a survival score and the other a hazard reduction score. A self braking car won’t do shit to physically protect you if you’re about to interact with a solid tree.
How about not having a sig at all?

How on earth could you fit two bikes in though? Bromptons?

I saw the CarWow video about them the other day.

Very appealing.

I could see it being a very fun car to own. One that would make you smile a lot...

It looks like a particularly cool micro machine. What's not to like? (apart from the bang ding ow safety rating)

Doubt we'd ever have the rear seats down, so front wheel out and chuck them in. If they don't fit, then on to the next bright idea  Ultimately I can see we're gonna end up with a Raptor instead. 8-) *

*we're really not. :(
