It’s obviously being funded from somewhere, I doubt he’s earning enough to be able to spunk a couple of million on a potentially scrap car.DeskJockey wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 2:03 pmInto bankruptcy proceedings?Zonda_ wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 1:53 pm I see Mat Armstrong is trying to buy a Chiron. If he gets it, which seems unlikely given Bugattis restrictions, I can’t see where his channel could go from there.

No idea, but his two YouTube channels have about 7.5m subscribers and a billion views between them. Add Instagram, merch and sponsored videos/Patreon (if he does them) into that. That'll come to something. And he might be financing the cars hoping to clear a profit at the end. ISTR that was how Tavarish did some of his more expensive builds.Zonda_ wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 2:41 pmIt’s obviously being funded from somewhere, I doubt he’s earning enough to be able to spunk a couple of million on a potentially scrap car.DeskJockey wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 2:03 pmInto bankruptcy proceedings?Zonda_ wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 1:53 pm I see Mat Armstrong is trying to buy a Chiron. I don't think there are any shenanigans, he's just doing incredibly well from his channel/merch etc. He works hard at it so good luck to him. I watch every Sunday after putting my daughter down.

His videos have a combined 31 million views in the last 30 days across his two channels which is probably in the region of £150k ad revenue, plus each brand integration would be paying something like £20k per video for two videos per month. So that's around £200k a month, plus all the other income streams he's got including High Speed Competitions, he's definitely bringing in a huge amount each year.

He’s got some overheads though. A team of people to pay for a start.

Re: Decent car YouTubes
i watched the MA video last night, best one for a while - his output has been a bit flat recently where he’s operating well within his comfort zone. The thrill of genuine jeopardy definitely lifts the whole excitement level.
The same applies/d to other car based stuff imo. Fast N Loud was brilliant when each build was genuinely stretching the finances and every loss hurt. It got boring when it was just “another super car being done up by a rich guy to get viewers”.
It’ll be interesting to see if MA can source the parts somehow - even though the actual rebuild may be a bit dull if they manage to repair the tub in situ.

Hopefully you wouldn't need an inspection to notice some of the massive bodges on this one

You didn't need to look beyond the Duruns before walking away

I thought that cracked suspension mount thing was an Audi defect with these, rather than crash damage? Didn't early Matt Armstrong fix one of those or am I imagining it?Matty wrote: Tue Oct 14, 2025 6:32 pm One for @JonMad on his searchHopefully you wouldn't need an inspection to notice some of the massive bodges on this one

I think Ricky mentioned in another videos that he's never seen a cracked frame that wasn't caused by crash damage. 10:45 for the time stampSimon wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 11:51 am I thought that cracked suspension mount thing was an Audi defect with these, rather than crash damage? In short, "it's crap...seen 4 cars in 15 years with cracked frame....only ever seen it in crashes"

I should point out I'm posting a lot of REP links at the moment. I'm not a paid shill....I just spent far too much time looking into owning R8's at one point
If I could remember stuff at work as well as I could about random car shit, I'd be paid much better

It was the American guy who also did some 360 convertible repair videos somewhere in Florida. I believe he had it welded.Simon wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 11:51 amI thought that cracked suspension mount thing was an Audi defect with these, rather than crash damage?
