Teh Spotted Thread
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
All G-wagens are stupid money. This doesn’t look like a drug dealer car. It’s great.
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
My friend with the 944 Turbo has been restoring a G-wagen for a fair few years - he bought it cheap like this

Bearing in mind it took him a few years to get his 944 up to scratch I think the Nerc should be finished in a couple of years

Can't say I've been a fan of them. Probably related to being bounced around in the back of a military spec 240D one, that while not fast felt dangerous.

I don't get the pricing though, but then lots of stuff is stupid money these days
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
You can get decent looking late 80s/early 90’s 2 door ones for around 30-40k, the performance will be 0-60 in about 4-6 working days but if you want a retro looking g wagon why pay over £100,000 more just to pootle around London at 25mph

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
The 2 door G Wagons never looked right, a 5 door station wagon please.
A late 80s one with a tuned OM606 in would be a fantastic practical forever car if you start with a non rotten shell.
Dave!

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
I was beginning to think nobody was buying non-63 G Wagons but I saw a G350d and a G500 this morning.
There seemed to be an inordinate amount of them around Cheltenham a couple of years ago but it appears they have mostly moved on to Defenders.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
I see the appeal of the amg ones for their absurdity, but I don’t want one, nor any other g wagon
Cheers, Harry
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
My friend paid a fraction of that for his - he sends me pics of the resto from time to time and I’m sure he’ll do it welljamcg wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 10:04 pm You can get decent looking late 80s/early 90’s 2 door ones for around 30-40k, the performance will be 0-60 in about 4-6 working days but if you want a retro looking g wagon why pay over £100,000 more just to pootle around London at 25mph

I’m more interested in sporty motors so we usually end up talking about them

Shame he’s painted it black - the colour scheme was the best thing about it!Mike1215 wrote: Sat Oct 04, 2025 4:56 pmMy friend paid a fraction of that for his - he sends me pics of the resto from time to time and I’m sure he’ll do it welljamcg wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 10:04 pm You can get decent looking late 80s/early 90’s 2 door ones for around 30-40k, the performance will be 0-60 in about 4-6 working days but if you want a retro looking g wagon why pay over £100,000 more just to pootle around London at 25mph

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Not-quite-spots from the supercar dealer down the road. Last time I walked by there was a 918 Spyder, Chiron, Veyron, Carrera GT and a very purple McLaren in the showroom among more pedestrian things like GT40s, assorted Lambos, Ferraris, and so on.
More interesting was a black widebody XJ-S with the double round headlights going the opposite way on the M20.

Best looking hot hatch bar none? Think it might be my number one.
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
I think that was just a prep coat - he’s keeping the original colour AFAIKRich B wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:57 pm Shame he’s painted it black - the colour scheme was the best thing about it!
