Imgur errors?

Post by mik »

Not the "unable to copy jpg url's on my phone" issue that's been going on for the last month plus : I am now having issues with "Content not available in your region" on both laptop and phone. Anyone else? :?

Get this when logging in, and also when looking back at images on here that are hosted on imgur.

Hmm - reddit post suggests this might be a UK Online Safety Act issue..... :?

Yes, it's the OSA. Find another image host.

Awesume - so now 90% of historical threads on here and other forums (containing images obviously) will be knackered (for UK viewers)?

It's like photophuckit all over again? :?

Yeah but I think they're acting rightly so. Make the UK a pariah for all things internet.
How about not having a sig at all?

I've requested all of my data and files, and that they then delete them. Amazing that they can stop serving the UK so suddenly. I was expecting the difficulty with linking from my phone to be resolved, but not like this

Balls. I lost a lost of photos covering a reasonably significant period of time after my phone got stolen a couple of years ago and imgur was a handy backup of a few motoring related ones (or other junk I'd placed on the forum).

@Jobbo is there a form you can use to request this or did you send a manual email asking for your data? Somehow I expect you may not get a response...

See Tim's link above.

Bear in mind everyone else can still see your images - I've made a few "how to repair" type things on the Lotus Forum with images hosted on imgur : nobody in the UK can currently see them (including me) but others in Abroadland still can..... so I don't think I want to delete my account? :?

Tim's link helps but their site just leads you to an enquiry page where you have to ask. They have already responded to me with a pdf listing all the filenames and dates which is fairly meaningless without the images so I have asked for those on the basis I cannot myself now access them.

As for deleting them, if they won't allow me to see my own uploaded files I'm afraid I'm not going to be leaving them on their website. Sorry to folks overseas who wish to view my extension plans for my old house, or a fuzzy photo of a Fiesta Frascati spotted in Droitwich.

Try going via Startpage.com and visiting the sites in anonymous mode. Shouldn't stop you logging in and getting your stuff.

You mistake my request for something I need. It’s just to put them to some effort since they can’t be arsed to comply with U.K. requirements.

As a regular Redditor, this is a PITA. Nearly everything on Reddit is uploaded to Imgur, so so much stuff you click on is now blocked.

I'm pretty much gonna be permanently on VPN these days.

Word. I may just spin up an Aws/Azure/Linode instance in the Netherlands just for this reason to route all my traffic via. So tired of government meddling in basic web functionality.

I wasn’t aware of Startpage.

Just looked at this forum via Startpage, and I still can’t see images that I had hosted on Imgur, so I guess my content is blocked for everyone as I am a UK based account? In which case I guess there is no point leaving my images on there…. :?

Not sure how it pulls through to the forum, but I can use the Imgur site in anonymous mode.
