i enjoyed the 1st series, but i thought it got slow and boring after that - like it couldn’t think of a good enough overall story to match the first series.

I was meaning to post about this show around this time, but somehow this passed me by. We enjoyed it, a bit of humour, a bit of drama, bit.of mystery, generally a nicely done show.

The reason I was meaning to post on here was I'm convinced that someone who worked on the show was a car nerd. The Sierra obvs, but there were other vehicles in it too that just felt like they'd been given far more consideration than would be normal for that sort of show. Most episodes I'd be commenting on something related to the vehicle choices.

I've just read it's been renewed for S02.

Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Ed Sullivan on NetFlix.

Documentary about the Ed Sullivan show, focusing specifically how be championed Black Artists, including those politically outspoken (like Harry Bellefonte) and the pressure he came under to censure them - which he didn't. His show, his guests, his rules. Watch it or don't. Lost Sponsors over his refusal to cancel certain guests etc. An aspect of him I was not aware of.

I'm really enjoying Alien Earth although that eyeball mini-octopus thing is absolute nightmare fuel.

I binge watched Dexter Resurrection this weekend... I was a big fan of the original (until it went shit) and the New Blood one was done surprisingly well if you just ignore how we get there.

Anyway, the whole reboot/let's all forget how the original series ended sees Dexter in New York and while its absolute bobbins, its fantastic fun. The visuals and soundtrack are great and there's a surprisingly stacked cast all playing along and hamming it up. Well worth a watch.

I like that that creature is getting a lot of screentime - you can tell they're enjoying finding things for it to do. I think Alien Earth is considered non-canon so they can get away with it.

It's also good to see Michael Smiley keeping busy (aka Tyres from Spaced, among many, many other things)

Enjoyed that. Quite a few silly plot elements, but I was able to breeze over them mentally.

Clear Fargo / Lock Stock inspired comedic threat moments and who knew that Spud (Ewan Bremner) could be a convincing Begbie-esque nutter. Star of the series for me.

7.5 prayers out of 10.

I binged Wednesday over the weekend.

It's charming and sweet with enough laughs - it's definately a Kids show but very watchable. My 10 year old Niece loves it.

Minor Gripe - Christina Ricci adjusts her glasses in the exact came manner as her character in Yellowjackets. Someone should have called her on it as there's Zero referencing (Unless they're both nods to Velma from Scoobie Doo ??)

Season 2 coming soon.

Just finished it. Very enjoyable and a good set up for Season 3

Also a lot of fun spotting places I know in Co Wicklow

A really good watch that doesn't require too much of the viewer. Standout performance from Eric McCormack (Will in "Will and Grace"), definitely worth investing 6 x 50ish minutes in.

Yes, it is paradoxical. Objectivity it isn't great, yet it hits the spot very well. Comparing it to a soap is too harsh though. I'd class it more with things like Vigil or Line of Duty.

Anyone else watching Task with Mark Ruffalo on Sky Atlantic??

From the same team who made Mare of Easttown. Ruffalo plays an FBI Special Agent put in charge of a task force to investigate a series of robberies at Drug houses, the most recent resulting in 3 dead and a child abducted.

It's very gritty stuff - biker gangs, fentanyl, poverty, hopelessness, all set in the same rural Pennsylvania setting as Mare of Easttown. Brilliantly written and brilliantly acted. You find yourself rooting for the Bad Guy and hope he can get away from the FBI on one side and the Really Bad Guy on the other . Also features, oddly, Aled Jones daughter as the Bad Guy's niece.

2 episodes to go - looking forward to see how it pans out.

Also Borderlands on ITV / ITVx. Bit lighter this one. Clash of personalities as cops from north and south of the border are put together to investigate cross border crime. This is very much on the "Hollyoaks" end of the spectrum but some funny moments and easy watching.

Going to watch Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue next. The comments here are strange because it's massively hyped online. We'll see.
