Not a car spotted, but a train. To celebrate 200 years since Stockton and Darlington railway first ran a passenger rail locomotive they’ve made a working replica of locomotion no.1 and ran it from Darlington to Stockton to kind of replicate the journey (only parts of the existing route still exist, like the skerne bridge in Darlington that used to be on fivers)

Nice to see Stockton do something about its heritage, we ignore the inventing of the friction match, and the railway is only sort of immortalised in some artwork no one realises is there. The worlds first railway ticket office is in Stockton, honoured with a broken plaque and turned into a charity housing centre for homeless people, so at least it does some good but in no way thanks to our local government

This lovely old Alfasud at an open day for a wheel refurb company in Ipswich:

Sadly never caught up with the owner... Maybe next time Harry!
Also had a nice chat with Mike Rainbird who I haven't spoken to for years. He's doing well and was there in his rather lovely Lotus Esprit.

Rubbish picture because I had shopping but I saw this very nice looking 306 cabrio yesterday.
Can’t be many of those around now.

It took me a while to figure out it was your csl, the plate looked familiar and initially assumed it was Mikes, as I know he bought his one to the meet there last year, then spotted the Esprit was actually his!Marv wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 4:36 pm This lovely old Alfasud at an open day for a wheel refurb company in Ipswich:

Only took 3 photos, the 155 Q4, your csl and the black e30 m3
Cheers, Harry
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Presume he still has his S2000 as well
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
To be fair, it was built 50 years ago, it’s just been restored to working condition.jamcg wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 11:54 am Not a car spotted, but a train. Re: Teh Spotted Thread
I only found out he had an Esprit the first time I met him, so he must like keeping it quiet...feel like I've let the cat out of the bag here

I think it's a 4cyl Turbot rather than a V8, but Mike being Mike he's done some very choice mods to bring the powah up nicely.
Probably one of the best condition Esprits I've seen too, absolutely immaculate.
Think he does still own the S2k as well, yeah.

Wandered past the house of local youtube cleb Graeme Parker (aka The Hoof GP). He had his Lambo Aventador, 911 GT2 and Lambo Urus parked outside. Oh and a Honda Jazz...

A brand new poverty spec G wagon

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the current model with unpainted plastic bumpers. Quite like it aside from the fact that the exhaust is horrific, just hanging underneath. Also I imagine it’s still over £100k which makes it terrible value for money.

How about not having a sig at all?

I think you’re right - I remember he did a post yonks ago on all the mods done to it re turbo and cooling. Now I think about it he’d used a lot of V8 model bits for styling/etc so that’s what I was thinking of. Like you say he always seemed more into his Cosworths or latterly, his CSL as you know
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
It’s not poverty spec, it’s a retro special edition. It’s fantastic though I’d have the green.Mito Man wrote: Thu Oct 02, 2025 5:51 pm A brand new poverty spec G wagon

Yeah far too much money for what is essentially a basic spec car with some classic colours.
