One of the children accidentally (supposedly) dropped a coin into the 12v socket in the Galaxy blowing the fuse and causing a spark.

Replaced the 20A fuse and while doing so realised that there must be a trim panel missing, as I have to skip the first step in the instructions. Not sure I'd realised it wasn't there, and can only assume it was missing when we bought the car. It isn't obvious unless you've got your head under the bottom edge of the dash.

Not sure if you were aware of Audi’s earlier solution to make brake disks as large as possible: calipers inside the disks. On the late 80s Audi V8 first, not sure it was ever used on many cars before they just upped the wheel diameter and reverted to a more normal design.

Surely weighs about the same as a normal setup? Sang weight saved in smaller caliper brackets is made up for by the extra metal in the disks

Not quite a clean sweep.

An advisory for a leaking outer cv joint.

It’s not, it’s because while it was off to do the inner boot I regreased the outer, but obviously didn’t get the clip to seal properly. It then sprayed grease everywhere

So bought some new clamps and a proper tool instead of trying to bodge it

It’s not sprayed any more out but presume there was still the odd smear around it / under the edge of the boot.

They looked at me like I'd just stepped on a puppy, so I assume their only experience of sports cars is through Gran Turismo. They got into a Golf TDi so I'm gonna guess they're a "top gear" car person, as opposed to an actual car person who's driven something other than a FWD hatch..

I often get asked if my car is a 530d, even when I’m at a petrol pump holding a green nozzle.

I find it easier to nod and smile, usually followed by “I bet that shifts” or similar.

My second set of Conti Sportcontact 6s on the Audi are coming to the end of their life. Inspired by Mik's post of the Tyrereviews video on the Michelin Cross Climate 3 Sport in the Youtube thread I discovered that I could get a set in 255/40R20 and they are cheapest at Costco (even taking into account the cost of renewing my membership). So I am having a set fitted on 1 October.

I could have got a set of the Contis again for £100 less (not at Costco) and had no issues in the last couple of winters with them, but after the long summer we've had I reckon we'll have a much harsher winter this time. Plus I wanted to try Costco for tyre fitting; plenty of people have said good things about them.

The Contis have been excellent, still very resistant to aquaplaning at sub-2mm tread depth and haven't become noticeably less nice to drive as they wear. First set did 30k miles (though they really needed replacing at that point), second set have done 18k but I spend less time on the motorway these days.

Superb rear parking sensors failed, parking assist not available. Plugged in obdeleven which confirmed far right sensor not working.

Fortunately able to get at from underneath via under tray, replacement part ordered off eBay £19, reset error code and back up and running

No-one talks to me at the fuel pumps. I prefer it this way and remain content in knowing that I have more turbots than them.

First failure of the Golf.

Charging flap actuator has stopped actuating.

Email to the dealer, booked in for the day after, currently being served coffee for the morning whilst it's fitted.

Can't argue at that service, a lot to be said for having a newer, warrantied car, CBA with the messing about any more.

No issues since this was done, the Golf keeps on doing a very good job of being a Golf.

I think the only thing it will be replaced with is another Golf if anything ever happens to it.

I wish it was a bit lower, and that it had the same twin exhaust the GTI does, the back box apparently swaps straight over, but I CBA with dicking about with it as it's in warranty, and it's quite under the radar as it looks like any other Golf from the rear, as other than the GTI spoiler and deeper bumper that you can't really see as it's black, it could be anything, even the R Line looks more potent than it.

Need to look at ordering my Kuga replacement as it's 3 next August, been looking at Formentors again, and still coming to the conclusion they're too small.

I might just get another Kuga, the facelift is a bit quicker and allegedly rides better so I'll go try one, it's been a super family car tbf, loads of space, comfy seats, great stereo.

330e Touring again was a bit small last time but I'll try again, no big car seat in the back now that the boy has just a booster seat, so it might work better, but he's got long legs though already

He can't sit behind me in the Golf as his legs don't fit, he's only just gone 9 FFS.

Not sure what else will be on the list yet other than those, should find out next month.

Proper ET45 Cup alloys but I'm getting a little rub at full compression so I may raise it up 10mm or so if possible.
