He quit/was forced out of Mastodon earlier this year.

Bloody hell, that is a shock. Kind of drifted away from Mastodon but the first three or four albums are all monsters.

I got into them late on and have worked my way back. I think my favourite album is still Emperor of Sand. Such a trippy, kitsch rock vibe going on.

A very strange year for them sadly :(

Crack the skye was the last album I really paid attention to. Didn’t really dig how prog they were getting.

Blood Mountain is easily in my top 5 all time favourite albums though

I was pretty shocked to hear this too.
