Yeah, to me it's the slightly smelly side of these beautiful cars, the "never ever ever ever for the plebs, even plebs with lotto money", that and a side helping of envy :)

That bored out 4.3 will have people throwing more cash around looking for upgrades of T50/33 (which I'm guessing will be meted out in 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.25 and 4.299 increments).

Funny though, a bit like Pagani, people still want an F1 or the nearest visual equivalent.

That used to depend on the manufacturer - when I was doing this as a day job the La Ferrari was about to be launched. A couple of dealers in Italy were happy to get one for you if you could proved ownership of any Ferrari and £150k ‘consultancy’ fee…

That S1 looks mint.

I wonder what sort of figures are changing hands for these things, particularly the five S1s where the guy has brought in his own designer. Must be massive numbers. Who can blame the guy, I'd be tempted to do the same thing if I had all the money in the world!

To be honest, could also be a very clever move. Do this deal, get them built claiming they're all for you and basically unobtainium, get all the other billionaires frothing at the crotch and the sell four of them for silly money and probably make a profit.

I remember Ferrari offering a similar bespoke service - Eric Clapton had one called the SP12 based on the 458: https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eur ... pton/25406

I imagine they still do so, but it’s more discreet than GMA. If you want a one-off car you don’t want it to be ‘launched’ - unless it’s a business proposition rather than a personalised car because you’re very wealthy. Joe Macari being involved and buying all of them reeks of bad taste.

Double header with Clarkson. That’s bound to bring views in…

Its an interesting debate around peak car. I don't think there is necessarily one peak but several high points.

Clarkson is for some reason focused on NVH but not sure that should mean pre-90s is ruled out as a result.

I would think as far as a blend of beauty and soul is concerned a year at some point in the mid 60s when you could buy a Miura, a Ferrari GT California, a F body 911S, a Daytona an Alfa 33 Stradale, etc. etc. has to be up there.

There's then a crescendo of analogue supercars in a decade long span from '95 to '05 with McLaren F1, Carrera GT, Zondas, etc. and finally I guess if you're considering down to earth metal, a tail into the early to mid 2010s before everything went turbo and 2024 with the ADAS stuff is the hard end point beyond which everything is too compromised to be considered (which I agree with Clarkson on).

Whilst I realise nobody else really cares, I wasn't very interested in that vid with Clarkson as
a/ I consider him a bit of a nob
b/ I don't rate his driving abilities, hence I don't place much value on his critique of cars or their dynamics

As you were - nothing to see here.

I haven't bothered watching it either. I've not watched everything he's put out on Harry's Garage this year; he's been quite up-front about wanting to drive views and subscriptions but some have seemed obvious clickbait and this is one such.

I couldn't listen to all of it. It's clearly unscripted and a bit rambling, I have better things to do with me time.

Have we all turned into grumpy old men?

I watched it the other day and enjoyed it. Sure, Harry is levering his circle to boost his viewers but he didn't put Clarkson directly in the video title and there's some interesting chat in there. I didn't even know Clarkson's daily was an F Type for example.

Put it on in the background whilst you're cooking or whatever.

I stopped watching Harry around the time he jumped into the farmer protests tbh.

I have to keep my cars and politics content separate or they clash

He put ‘The Farmer’s Dog’ and Clarkson fanboys know exactly what that means for the algorithm.

It was ok, Clarkson mostly restrained himself from going panto. I'm definitely falling into grumpy old man mode and I absolutely do not want anything with that speed warning bonger. I tore apart the dashboard of my 80s MR2s to get rid of the damn thing.

I'll follow Richard Porter's line on Jaguar, they've failed to make money with any other business plan in the last thirty years. Burning it all down to go Echic can't be worse...

I quite enjoyed it, possibly as I agree with what they saying what modern cars have been doing for the past 10 years.

Surprised he has a Mulsanne though but a very good choice.

I did watch it last night. It was very predictable other than one thing - the two of them discussing Harry’s Road actually being Clarkson’s. I’ve said that before a number of times on here because I found it myself in the early 90s from a Clarkson article in Performance Car. It was a regular Evo meet Road at least a decade before Harry started showing it on YouTube.

I really really wish everyone would stop talking about it as otherwise you absolutely know it is going to get average speed cameras from start to finish. :?
