Project Binky
Re: Project Binky
Also watched maybe 3 mins out of the 45. The car influencer knobs at least give us a start middle and end. Give us a dyno, shakedown etc. Next project.
Re: Project Binky
Yeah got bored of that one quickly and switched off. Even I managed to build my project quicker than them without the public funding it.

Re: Project Binky
Sounds like everyone did the same as me.. few minutes fast forwarding and then turned off! They’ve fvcked their golden goose imho, I’d never get them to do any work for me and their vids don’t deliver a finalised product
Cheers,
Ian

Re: Project Binky
I watched it and found it interesting, although I think it’s all a bit pointless and needlessly complicated for ok results.
I also don’t get why you’d print the logo of a companies whos gauges you’ve slagged off and had pretty poor service from on your own gauges. Seemed like a silly nod to oem on something obviously not.
I’m also sure a vinyl plotter to make the masks to screenprint their own faces would have been cheaper and easier than however many test pieces they had to make before they were happy with the print and spray and glue together method.
But hey, they did what they wanted to do and seem happy with it

Re: Project Binky
I think we all really want to see an end to the project and the finished article, possibly with some post-hoc tuning and mods.
I was trying to think what else they can do though. Will we have 45 minutes on how they re-engineered the headlights? An hour on tweaking the feel of the primary controls? Perhaps a 10 minute short on fabricating a new ashtray spring. Culminating in a special episode where they decide they don't like the use of steel in the car and set out to create their own, new element.

Re: Project Binky
If actually enjoy an episode about modifying headlights
I’m a huge fan of lighting upgrades / retrofits, but not when they look too new for the vehicle. I think a lot of the lights people like retropower use spoil the look of their cars.
Probably just me being weird though

Re: Project Binky
They've said the penultimate episode is coming tonight. Do you think the final episode will be sanding the tyre tread blocks into penis shapes or something?
Re: Project Binky
Ooh, maybe once it's done they'll get working on Project Escargot, and it'll take them nine months to fit a fog lamp because they decided to fabricate their own fucking bulbs.

Don't forget that MG SVR shell they had.Beany wrote: Thu Jul 31, 2025 5:58 pm Ooh, maybe once it's done they'll get working on Project Escargot, and it'll take them nine months to fit a fog lamp because they decided to fabricate their own fucking bulbs.

@1:05 - "For all intensive purposes"
Are they deliberately this wrong?

I’m afraid I fast forwarded much of it.
I get they are fixated on details, but after 11 years…….

Re: Project Binky
Yeah - that was dull. FFWD most of it. Ive lost interest now.
Hopefully the next video will be a rolling road and mapping then an MOT and some footage of it driving.

I got 15 minutes into this one before I bailed, about the time they started trying to sell me their switches.

It felt like there were quite a few blatantl advert/sponsored bits without being too explicit that they were - the 3D printer and the CAD course for instance.
Re: Project Binky
They’ve out a new escargot video out. Someone let me know if I should bother…..

TL;DR they’ve not done much and the body is fucked so they may just scrap it.
