Wimby Line Judges

Post by mik »

I’m not a tennis fan, but I don’t mind watching a bit of Wimby when it’s on.

It only occured to me after 20 odd minutes watching that they’ve dropped the line judges. All calls performed by those new fangled computer gizmos now. :geek:

Which presumably means the players don’t get to challenge any more - so we won’t see that cool graphic overlaid with crowd oooooh’s to verify whether the in/out call was correct. :(

I think only French Open left with line judges. Seems a bit of an unnecessary change. The players can do a silly pointless challenge but it just shows how close the ball was to being in. Utterly stupid that.
How about not having a sig at all?

I noticed there still seems to be judges down the sides at the “line the the serve has to land before” (not sure of it’s real name)

Can the Hawkeye call foot faults???

I’m not much of a Tennis person but I’ve really enjoyed watching Alcaraz recently. He’s an amazing player and seems like a decent sort of chap - always playing with a smile on his face like he’s enjoying himself, no matter how the games going. A refreshing change

I don’t agree with it, much as I like tech. Just because they can use tech to do it doesn’t always mean they should.
