Re: Today’s want
It's also not been taxed since July 2022 ! But it's been MOT'd each year.
Looks quite nice but have to assume it's very overpriced if they've not been able to shift it in three years.

Still remember Harry Metcalfe's long termer in Evo. That had plenty of issues from new.GG. wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:04 am I don't have a huge desire for the SL in general but these are pretty fantastic value (yes, I'm aware its 3x that SL500 but still peanuts in the grand scheme of things)

Gives me nostalgic vibes as my mates dad had one from new.
Here's Evo's used buying guide from 18 years ago - when they were still fairly new. Doesn't give a lot of confidence I have to say!

Re: Today’s want
I've always hankered after one of those SLs too, someone picked me up in one during the middle of the night at a party sometime around 2009 and it was sooo cool at the time.

Re: Today’s want
Mate had an SL500 in the Med and I always thought it was cool.. but even Smith n’ Sniff have commented on how ALL metal folding roofs leak

Re: Today’s want
The price isn’t really the price though is it. I’m assuming they’re £15k because they’ll actually cost another £5-10k as soon as you dare drive it?
Re: Today’s want
Agree - though I think it will be largely consistent between SL350 and SL55 AMG barring some consumables such as brakes - i.e. the suspension on these is £1,000 a corner and goes wrong all the time.
Would you feel better having spent £15k (including repairs) on an SL350 or £25k on an SL55. At least in the latter case you have "the daddy" and some possibility it may appreciate in time. I don't think that'll happen to the same degree with a V6.

Or well under £10k on an R129 with a V8? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 5302989891
Re: Today’s want
My old Boss had the R129 SL600 - which he treated horribly - it was such a shame but he was driving it into the ground. Shitty Brown colour though which wasn't ideal

Reminds me - not a wanted but a spotted - I keep seeing a nineties LS400 being used on the school run near here. Fair play.GG. wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 9:12 am Someone on here likes these don't they?

Re: Today’s want
I get that they are special in many amazing ways, and are deliberately not shouty or loud in volume or design. But, they could have at least tried adding some kind of flair or design details. I would have thought that part of what would/could make it special was that they've made some effort to please the eye, not just a straight-lines box on wheels.GG. wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 9:12 am Someone on here likes these don't they?

It also doesn't look like it has that fold down slot you can put your feet through on the passenger seat so I'm disappointed on that front
The toggle like switchgear also gives me Hong Kong taxi vibes.

Zed I think? He's off again - not been back on here for 3+ months.

Last I recall on here, he was saying it would be morally repugnant to vote for Kamala because of her stance on Gaza. That's aged well

Re: Today’s want
It doesn't feel fair to talk about him behind his back, but he does seem to be so principled he can't see the wood for the trees.

I hadn't noticed Zed had flounced...
