IIRC Israel has a very large number of military reservists, who are allowed to keep their military-issued firearms at home. Not quite the same as the US where (more or less) anyone can buy as many guns as they like.Mito Man wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 2:46 pm Didn’t realise Israel was like a mini America in terms of carrying firearms

Very much this. But also loads of guns in private hands, especially among the US settlers who obviously need an AR with them to take the bins out.Sundayjumper wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 4:18 pmIIRC Israel has a very large number of military reservists, who are allowed to keep their military-issued firearms at home. A lot of the most extreme settlers causing trouble by stealing land in the west bank and Gaza are Americans fulfilling what they believe is their biblical right, and manifest destiny. And, they're obviously heavily armed.Mito Man wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 4:50 pm US settlers? Also the concept taking your firearm from work back home like it's a work phoneWild.
So that if the yanks try and bomb it it will be okMito Man wrote: Mon Jun 23, 2025 10:03 pm
Also if you really want a civilian nuclear program why the fook are you tunnelling under a mountain and putting it all in a bunker…
trump talking out of his arse again - there's a suprise!Early US intel assessment suggests strikes on Iran did not destroy nuclear sites - CNN
An early US intelligence assessment indicated that the US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities last week did not destroy the core components of Tehran’s nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, CNN reports, citing three people briefed on the matter.
The assessment, which has not been previously reported, was produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Pentagon’s intelligence arm, and is based on a battle damage assessment conducted by US Central Command in the aftermath of the US strikes, one of the sources told CNN.
The analysis of the damage to the sites and the impact of the strikes on Iran’s nuclear ambitions is ongoing, and could change as further intelligence becomes available.
But the early findings are at odds with Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the strikes “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities, and US defense secretary Pete Hegseth’s comments claiming that Iran’s nuclear ambitions “have been obliterated”.
I was waiting for this - I'm positive they were saying that the nuclear facility was 50m underground, and the US bunker busting bombs, even the Big Bastard ones, can only penetrate about 25m. Those were the specific numbers - but the point is that the depth was out of the range of the US arms.
So there’s a large population of successful Americans with I’m assuming Jewish heritage that just decide to pack up and go set up a settlement in Palestinian land?DeskJockey wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:25 pmIt is also a very, very significant source of funding to keep the settlements going and expanding.
They're religious fundamentalists, why would you expect it to?Mito Man wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:56 pmSo there’s a large population of successful Americans with I’m assuming Jewish heritage that just decide to pack up and go set up a settlement in Palestinian land?DeskJockey wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:25 pmIt is also a very, very significant source of funding to keep the settlements going and expanding.
Am I missing something because none of this makes that much sense!
Generally it is the younger ones, it is their "settling down" (no pun intended). But yes, people who fervently believe that they have a god given right to the land, and have no qualms about taking it. In their eyes they're not stealing it, obviously. Merely taking what is theirs.Mito Man wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:56 pmSo there’s a large population of successful Americans with I’m assuming Jewish heritage that just decide to pack up and go set up a settlement in Palestinian land?DeskJockey wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:25 pmIt is also a very, very significant source of funding to keep the settlements going and expanding.

I just imagine if you're doing well in life you can't be that much of a religious nutjob, just feels mutually exclusive. It's religious nutjobs having significant funding that's throwing me. And then if you're doing well in life and have decent money moving out to what is in essence a conflict zone...Beany wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:06 pmThey're religious fundamentalists, why would you expect it to?Mito Man wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:56 pmSo there’s a large population of successful Americans with I’m assuming Jewish heritage that just decide to pack up and go set up a settlement in Palestinian land?DeskJockey wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:25 pm
