Love that colour, it’s a fine looking car!
Re: Deposit paid, guess the car
Lovely, I did wonder why you were getting an estate when you had the M3, clearly I missed it going away!

Purblue is darker blue than pictures suggest. Which seems to be the same for a lot of BMW colours which photograph very differently depending on light.

Looks lovely, and nice to see one in an Individual colour too.
From the spotted thread it looks like you may have gone over to NI to collect?

So, thinking about winter wheels... I know it's only June, but I've been caught out before by leaving things until too late and then you can struggle to get the tires you need.
Apologies for the poor chatgpt image f*ckery, but do these wheels look good or totally not good with the blue colour? I think chatgpt has made them brighter than they are in really life, but now I'm not sure.

Needs to be more silver, I think. Or proper gold coloured.

While I’m not usually a fan of dark wheels, the silver rim on yours sets them off so I think they look great. Are the gold ones a spare set you already have?
Re: Deposit paid, guess the car
Top ones should be all silver, bottom ones as summer wheels.

They evoke thoughts of BMWbaru (possible (c) JL) but I think they’ll look good when fitted?
So you are thinking winters on the current black/silver rim set, and summers on the (larger?) gold set?

Re: Deposit paid, guess the car
I'm not a fan of black wheels but I think they look ok on it. Needs more silver maybe? Plan would be to put winters on those.
Those gold ones are the same size as the current stock setup - the ones I had on my last wagon were 1" larger front and rear, but I'm not doing that again. These ones I'm thinking are the ones from the CS car so they're not as bright as the picture makes them look.
So yes, black in winter, gold in summer.

Then I declare your plan to be

I'm similar to Jobbo in that I generally dislike black wheels - partly 'cos it can be difficult to see the detail in the design, but mostly 'cos there is no clear visual separation between wheel rim and tyre : the silver rim on your original wheels addresses the latter and I therefore flip to quite liking them.
aside: The Evora GT430 came with an option of black wheels with polished rim and I think they look massively better than the various all-black Evora wheel designs.

I’m the opposite and feel the silver rim makes them look like they’ve been kerbed.. but then I also like dark wheels. The gold wheels pic - it’s flattened the paint and lightened the lights, so it’s hard to compare. Soz

Does this look like it's had the wheels kerbed, Ian? Does it?

Re: Deposit paid, guess the car
I had a Le Mans Blue e90 which looked great with anthracite wheels (which I believe were a BMW factory colour). I would go that route.

Re: Deposit paid, guess the car
Sort of like this:

Was only an option on LCI cars AFAIK. And there were 2 shades of Ferric, the above being Ferric 1. I'm not sure how good it would look on the paler blue of Mike's though.
I'm a sucker for anthracite wheels, and am not a fan of black wheels much. I optioned my red 197 with the anthracite wheels. Wife's Superb has black with a diamond cut and I'm not a fan, but they were still the best wheel design available.
