I had my new fridge delivered today. As it's bigger than a standard 60cm it nearly didn't fit. I didn't just have to take my lounge door off, but also my front door, which is solid wood and weighs a ton. And even then it only just fit.

I hope you don't have the same tribulations accepting such a large organ into your orifice.

She already plays flute, and playing flute one-handed is quite difficult. Playing the organ (hand-feet coordination) is quite difficult. Doing the whole lot at once is crazy difficult.

Boxster is sold. Guy came over from Liverpool on the train just to look at it, so I knew he was serious. It's nice to have the space back, but I'll miss it. Had some epic trips in that car.

Bought and fitted a new front number plate bracket for the 928. The old one was a bodged bit of bent metal that had the plate drooping slightly towards the ground which had always annoyed me. The genuine Porsche one was only £12 too. Treated it to a new set of plates at the same time. It always surprises me how much of a difference new number plates make to a car. Got the hatch release motor working and it just needs a bit of fiddly adjustment to be perfect. Next up will be the speaker upgrade, but I'm going to wait until after the next event (Supercar Pageant at Oulton Park) before tackling that one as I'll have to dismantle a fair bit of the interior to do it as well as fabricate some custom speaker mounts.

Got some time to do a write up. Drove the 6 Series to Nottingham region to check out a 7 Series my dad was interested in. I overshot a bit and ended up in the Peak District driving to Glossop and then back via Buxton. First long drive with new brakes, coils, plugs, purge valves etc and it was faultless *chefs kiss*

There were constant showers but a dry spell coincided with a lay-by and I even had a chance to fly my new drone (it’s a warranty replacement)

Then it was on to view the car at the dealership which was extremely impressive.

The car itself is pretty special - a M760 in individual Rubinschwarz. It’s dark red in the sunlight, dark brown under lights, and otherwise black. But being Pre LCI it has a small grill, no particulate filters and thus was the most powerful V12 ever produced by BMW.
Checked the car out and it was immaculate so with that we drove 250 miles back down South. My car did 24 mpg, 1 less than the 760!

Back home and I got to be chauffeured with the pooch.

This picture makes me laugh more than it should mainly because the previous owner was a Sir. You know, someone actually knighted by the queen. And now it’s got us in it

So back seat impressions. Ride is quite firm and it doesn’t do the floaty thing that the XJ does. You can feel the road surface through the chassis and it just feels way more taught. Even in comfort. Definitely more driver focused but it’s far more spacious. Feels like a typical BMW in that regard. Seats are also less sofa like and have more support. Only weak point is the B&W sound system, not a patch on the Jag’s Meridian.
Feels like an EV inside. You can’t feel/hear the engine or gear changes at all in normal driving modes. Just feels like there’s a hand pushing the car along. It does the Jekyll and Hyde thing very well though. In sport mode the valves open and it makes a good noise. It’s surprisingly loud, reverberating in tunnels and crackling on the overrun. Can see why you need all the support in the seats because the unrelenting torque does a good job of trying to shove you through the seat!
Sir Pooch was not impressed in this driving mode and started panting so I turned on the perfume

He still likes the XJ so I can’t see that going. I guess realistically the next thing will be to swap the Tesla for another EV but he finds it hard to spend any money on an EV because they’re so devoid of joy.

That's a lovely thing. I'm liking the quilted rear seats and built-in fragrance.

Very nice colour... I saw a new Defender in a very similar sort of metallic colour yesterday but wasn't sure if it was paint or a wrap. Black to burgundy to brown as it moved.

Also, MOT time for the i3. I’m not expecting any nasty surprises. What’s the deal with servicing EVs ? Obviously there’s no oils, filters to change so seeing as the rest of a normal service is just checking stuff, if the MOT is clear then that’s everything covered ?

Jaguar XF Portfolio S 3.0 V6 crude oil edition

So with £820 burning a hole in my pocket from the sale of my old Mondeo, I took the Jag across the road and spent £791 on a new set of tyres and a 4 wheel alignment. Both badly needed.

It had P-Zeros on the front, which I do not like anyway, but one was a puncture replacement and a different tread depth to the other side, and on the back... fucking SUNNYs. £63 each. Ideal. It's now got a lovely set of Toyo Proxes Sport 2s, which I've now had on several cars and I really rate (excellent in wet and very quiet).

I also suspected the alignment was bad because it was tramlining really badly (even more than shit P-Zeros do anyway).

Turns out the alignment was really out! The drive to the office tomorrow should be less all-over-the-shop.
