Tesla stock is just bonkers anyway, none of it makes any sense. It’ll probably bounce back higher in a couple of days

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Elon Musk/Tesla
It'll be interesting to see what happens
Trump's modus operandi is usually to just sue his opponents into submission, and/or to use his social reach to just trash them
But now he's picking a fight with the world's richest man (who can afford to outspend him in court) and who owns a social media platform and has already demonstrated how he'll tweak the algorithms to amplify his own voice
Trump has never really picked a fight with anyone able to fight back - let alone someone with greater resources

Re: Elon Musk/Tesla
I don't really follow stocks, so I may be way off here, but Tesla stock does seem to be quite volatile
Up and down by several % almost every single day
And seemingly to mainly move based on non-business/market news
These moves seem to be more influenced by whatever Musk happens to Tweet rather than what Tesla itself, competitors and other things happen (although obvs these do happen, but they're not daily events)
Re: Elon Musk/Tesla
As per Steve's point above - their shares are vastly over-valued. The markets always seem fickle, but as the justification for Tesla's share price isn't really tangible - their valuation is even more fickle than most.DaveE wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:40 amI don't really follow stocks, so I may be way off here, but Tesla stock does seem to be quite volatile

Trump doesn't need to go to court now - he can legislate Musk's companies into insolvency and can have him deported as an illegal immigrant.DaveE wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:36 am It'll be interesting to see what happens

As it's popular in Russia, maybe Musk will fall out of a 5th floor window?Jobbo wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:50 am

I expect that will involve a fair amount of “cutting off his nose” with how ingrained Musks businesses are these days…Jobbo wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:50 amTrump doesn't need to go to court now - he can legislate Musk's companies into insolvency and can have him deported as an illegal immigrant.DaveE wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:36 am It'll be interesting to see what happens

Re: Elon Musk/Tesla
Neither do I, but a meme stock is a stock prices that is more closely influenced by what memes/social media activity etc are going on around it (or in this case Musk on social media) than the actual performance of the company.DaveE wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:40 amI don't really follow stocks, so I may be way off here, but Tesla stock does seem to be quite volatile

If it were any other car company and Musk were removed from history entirely but his impact still there - then with stagnant models, poor build quality, a complete flop of a truck and no real mass market (IE £25k) model, they'd be worth 10% of what they are.
The companies value comes from memes - hence, meme stock.
Re: Elon Musk/Tesla
The ket has worn off and Musk is going around deleting a lot of tweets.
That he deleted a tweet about Steve Bannon - the well known white supremacist who claims not to be a white supremacist, but white supremacists really really like his ideas - shows who really has Trumps ear.
I don't think this is a publicity play - I think Musk might actually be fucked. Musk is likely about to be Trumps next patsy. Everything that's gone wrong is Musks fault. Barely knew him, maybe he brought me coffee once.
"Curse your sudden, but inevitable, betrayal" etc

There's talk of them actually investigating his original Canada--> USA move when he dropped out of uni, and related Visa shenanigans to get to officially declare him a persona non grata. That would be bona fide hilarious.

"Sales down 80% in Portugal" or whatever
But how many did they ever sell in these countries?
And across the whole of Europe, what's that as a % of global sales?
Every time I see large percentages mentioned (anywhere) I always assume the actual numbers are quite small
