Re: No F1 thread?
Yuki qualified 20th, how long before we have another RB driver this year?
Starts 19th though as lance has wrist pain and won’t race.

Re: No F1 thread?
I reckon Honda have paid handsomely for him to be in the seat for the rest of the season, so RBR are probably just happy with the money in their account.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 8:21 am Yuki qualified 20th, how long before we have another RB driver this year?
If they do have a break out clause, whoever they would put in his place would probably under perform as well.
The only logical reason to put someone else in, would be too get their 2026 driver in early, so they can understand how things work in the team, operationally.
Though they might be better off waiting and putting them in the 2026 car, so they don't get their confidence knocked by the current car, which only Max seems to get along with.
Oui, je suis un motard.
Re: No F1 thread?
Not sure what that was all about. Why was he angry about Leclerc but not Russell who actually clumsily drove into him first? Then why did his team want him to give back the place to Russell…
Seems like everyone was on some kind of substance

Re: No F1 thread?
I saw it as Russell taking the opportunity to follow LeClerc through - perfectly legitimate and happens regularly in motorsport. Max then drove into him, and then sneakily took the escape road to gain some distance, like a Mr Sneaky Slime from Sneakyslimesville. Even his team could see that (for once).

His petulant child deliberate ramming of Russell after that has to receive a penalty. Absolutely blatant.

Re: No F1 thread?
10 second penalty, 3 penalty points. 1 point off a race ban

Re: No F1 thread?
I guess rb saw the Albon penalty for gaining an advantage (maintaining a place using the escape road) and decided losing the place would be better than risking a penalty with the field so close after the restart.
The actual collision was just dumb though, complete knobhead move.

After masterfully catching a big slide (hard tyres - not happy) Verbratten then does his best to deny LeClerc room along the straight, before he does his Sneaky McSlimemeister short-cut over the escape road. Followed by the move where he shits his nappy. For me he's that most unpalatable combination of extremely talented, yet still cheats at every opportunity

Re: No F1 thread?
It is very reminiscent of Vettel. It could be symptomatic of RedBull's driver policy which heavily favours the lead driver, it may breed a bit of a lack of humility. Then again, maybe just coincidence. Either way, cunty move. I actually don't think Max is that cunty off track, he'll probably be a bit like Vettel in that he instantly become more likeable when he retires.
Re: No F1 thread?
RB's driver policy is really catastrophically backfiring at the moment. Max is the quickest out there, but the number 2 drivers they have had are not that much slower, they really have stacked the dice so heavily in his favour that they've really wrecked their chances of a good constructors result which is where all the prize money is handed out.
Re: No F1 thread?
I believe this is the point that the championship fight is over for Max. Red Bull banked big on the flexi wing ruling and McLaren were even faster.
All they achieved was wasting a bunch of money and making every car feel much worse to drive.

I heard an interesting analogy somewhere recently about how the RB car is set up for Maxduncs500 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 8:49 am RB's driver policy is really catastrophically backfiring at the moment. They likened it to turning up the speed and sensitivity on your computer mouse to maximum, and how that would feel for most people - way too jerky and and the mouse pointer just flies around uncontrollably
Re: No F1 thread?
You have to hope that, although Horner et al at RB nack him publicly regardless, they do speak to him afterward, but I very much doubt it.
The fact the team back him no matter how dirtily he drives is not making him such a likable human. I quite like his blunt manner, and he is clearly one of the very best ever, but like MS and Senna and, to a much lesser extent, Vettel, he can be a dirty b*stard behine the wheel and a cock when asked to justify it afterwards.
What penalty did Seb get when he rammed Hamilton a few years back? I have forgotten.
I did see Max had made a half hearted "apology" so he clearly knew he was in the wrong, but too pig headed to admit it straight afterward.

A 10 second stop and go which would be about 26 seconds loss.
Banal Vapid Platitudes
Re: No F1 thread?
Cheers. Vettel's was probably more petulant, but no faster or more dangerous, so the oft mentioned lack of consistency is there again. Perhaps the rules on ramming people have vhanged since...Jimmy Choo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 8:17 amA 10 second stop and go which would be about 26 seconds loss.
Re: No F1 thread?
I watched Driver's PC yesterday or teh day before, and Lance Stroll has always come across as largely disinteresetd in doing interviews, and fair enough, Not everyone can be bothered to sparkle when answering the same questions again and again, but he just seems like he doesn't want to be there. The rumours flying around that he did something to his hand aving a hissy fit as well. This season he is almost or was matching Alonso, but Alonso is now gelling with the car and is back to his usal position, way ahead.
I don't think Stroll is awful, but better drivers have come and one during his career, I wonder if he will carry on for much longer, if he is not enjoyiong it.

Abroad so only managed to watch the brief highlights of quali on YT. Tomorrow's race could be a cracker! Presume George is going to get his elbows out considering Max's penalty points position.
