It's all because leclerc went onto hards after the lap 1 perez crash. I think it would be better if they changes the rules to not count a tyre change in the early phase of a race, rather than applying special rules to Monaco.

The other annoying aspect is that the lead drivers lap at over 10 seconds a lap slower for the first third of the race as everyone tries to extend the tyres and wait for a safety car. Then no one else in the top 10 can pit either as they’ll come out into traffic.

Consequence of the gaps being relatively small between teams now. With the new regs coming in next year, the gaps will probably be huge again, so this will most likely be less of a problem

Looks like Ferrari have managed to shaft Hamilton before the race even starts. I thought the qualifying driver blocking rule was ignored if the blocked driver progressed to the next session but appears not

What penalty did George get in the end? I switched over pretty much as soon as they crossed the line. I know he got a drive through but then heard another 30 seconds added to the race time??

I know it was a pisstake move, but then so have plenty of other gaining an advantage moments. Just try and make it look authentic and you’ll only get a 5 or 10 second penalty. Let everyone know it’s a joke of a race and they send you to the back

I watch so little of the build up or after race analysis these days, and often play about on my phone whilst watching the race.

Monaco really should be axed, or just give points for qualifying and don't bother with the race.
I know they had hoped to make the racing better, and kudos to them for having a go, but that was pitiful, as this round, so often is.

2026 reg cars have supposed to be smaller, but I think it may have been Peter Windsor who said that it’s looking unlikely that they will be any smaller.

Also, remember the year when Mansell couldn’t get past Senna, and the cars were much smaller then.

Maybe Go-Karts or the old cigar shape F1 cars are there only ones suited.

Yeah true, Monaco is just a write off really but in general there's other tracks that might come into their own with smaller cars.

Smaller 2026 cars won’t make a difference, they’ll still be bigger and heavier than the pre 2017 cars which struggled as much. I guess you can’t make a car smaller than that and have it pass the crash tests. Also the current passing regs (thanks to Verstappen) mean you have to have a clean pass, totally within limits, not touch the other car, be totally alongside etc - pretty impossible without having a very wide track.
We may get some complete bullshit to counteract it though. Push to pass for the car behind or more battery usage etc but gimmicks are just that at the end of the day.
