Yep, it's one of the 'lifetime' performance filters that does indeed need oiling. It looks ok, but is ancient! I do service it.
If it's been in a while I would. K&N sell a kit for their filters (2 stage - clean, and then re-oil. It's an easy process to follow).

Just wondering if you've got some oily residue on the MAF but unlikely if you've not cleaned/oiled it in years.
How about not having a sig at all?

Audi serviced today. Also replaced the wiper blades, air filter (due but not covered by the service plan - it's not expensive but that is somewhat bizarre) and a new rear reg plate fitted because the original is delaminating at 25 months old/42,000 miles. Tyres have done 12,000 miles and are just over half worn. I suspect that is due to my commute involving more roundabouts than previously which was pretty much all motorway.

928 - been investigating why the rear hatch release doesn't work. Looks like the wiring to the connector that plugs into the release motor doesn't always work (it does if you wiggle it). It also needs adjusting as it doesn't pop the hatch when it does run. Going to pull the motor and give it a good clean and grease.

Boxster - had it machine polished and given a 2 year ceramic coating. It now looks incredible and has gone on AutoTrader. One of you cunts must want to buy it. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202505162487885
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

MOT on the 5-Series today with merely a flying advisory for worn rear brake pads.

No serious interest from any buyers yet. Just three "best price" messages. I don't reply to those. I used to but I would never get a reply back again. Are they expecting you to immediately offer half the asking price or something ? I don't understand the logic.

Where would you even get a padded envelope big enough? How many stamps will it need? Can it fit in the letterbox? So many questions.

I vaguely recall a social media trend of idiots sticking their new cars in massive plywood boxes and “unboxing” them on their driveway and then screaming and acting excited…

Seems about right. "Ermagerd. That thing I researched, specced and bought has arrived. I'm totally surprised!".

i drove the elise to work today because it was sunny, i just went out to put it away (roof back on, charger on, etc… and my neighbour 3 doors down was doing the same with his Tuscan S. we got chatting and turns out he’s a proper car nerd too, he’s currently planning a 4.5 conversion/rebuild.

i’ve lived here for 8 years and never spoken to him. cars. bringing nerds together.

X5 now seems to be completely coolant tight which is nice, no need to check it before every journey 🙄

Barely used it the past month while finding the cause / waiting for parts / doing other things so have given it a wash and put some fuel in for the first time in ages. I’d forgotten how much it takes to fill 🥲

Mustang booked in for Continental Sport Contact 7's on Saturday.

I would like Michelin's (got over 20k out of the Primacy 3's on my old 650i!) but the Conti's get good reviews and Evo mag had them winning a tyre test. Not that it's hugely relevant to me, but good nonetheless.

£280 each for the rears and £220 each for the fronts. That's supplied and fitted.

Not the cheapest, but it's being done by the only garage that I 100% know won't damage the brand new wheels! Specialist Tyres Letchworth.

Oh, and I remembered that the catalytic converter has a dent in it  I wonder if that is contributing the emissions and EML?

Need to also order a new air filter, as per comments above. It's a great big Ford Performance jobby at the moment. Will do some research tonight and see if I can get hold of the JLT intakes that they all seem to like.

If the cat has a dent in it check pre and post sensors, could be as simple as a damaged wire/connector

We've had the Mini for a couple of years now. Brilliant car - does everything perfectly.

Partner hasn't gelled with it, though. Wants to sell and get 987 Boxster :o
