It's an '06 Vogue SE 3.6 TD V8 with 127k on the clock.Simon wrote: Mon Sep 17, 2018 9:15 pmTidy!hoyleyboyley wrote: Mon Sep 17, 2018 8:27 pm
Believe it's stornoway Grey, black leather interior. Piano black dash. For me it's THE color combo as I didn't want another black car.
Needs a few bits sorting, but it was commensurately priced so hopefully with a bit of dealing well be ahead.
Would it be rude to ask how muchly?
Forum sale through mate of a mate so was a convenient sale for us both.
I paid £6k which I reckon is about 2k cheaper than anything else for the same spec I could find on the interwebs in a good colour combo.
Vogue SE has heated seats front and back, fronts are cooled too along with heated steering wheel.

As I say it's a sort of something of a project, so new rear bumper shortly on the way, along with some bits of trim, potentially the side steps want replacing too and some minor cosmetic paintwork.
Interior is great, just wanted a really good scrub.
As it stands its a 10ft car, with the bits sorted and a good wash/polish it'll be fine.
As logn as I can do all that for less than 2k I'll consider myself 'up' on the deal and will put the rest aside for repairs.

270HP and should remap to 310HP by all accounts so if we run it for a bit and it doesn't break then that may be on the cards.

Six fkn grand * shakes head *
Bet that bastard was the thick end of 100k new!
OK - 55k although I bet yours was more. Nice little review here - https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-revie ... 06-review/

Re: Range Rovers
Ok so this purchase is even braver that we otherwise assumed

Re: Range Rovers
Think the Vogue SE trim level basically came with all the toys on it already so more like £75k I would imagine. Autobiographies were in the 80s I think.JLv3.0 wrote: Tue Sep 18, 2018 11:16 am Six fkn grand * shakes head *

Still - at £6k your point most definitely stands!
Re: Range Rovers
Sounds all cosmetic, and if anything breaks quickly then Scott can divert funds to fixing it rather than prettifying it.
I like it, and that's a bargain

Re: Range Rovers
Agree - even if a turbo or a diff goes at £6k it should be repairable and still able to be sold on without (too much of) a loss.Jobbo wrote: Tue Sep 18, 2018 11:21 am Sounds all cosmetic, and if anything breaks quickly then Scott can divert funds to fixing it rather than prettifying it.

Re: Range Rovers
Yeah this is the thing isn't it - people can bleat on about running costs until the cows come home but there's almost always a cheaper / better way of doing something than chucking it at the dealer, pointing at it, saying Make fix, and bending over. I'll be watching this one with interest - for all my dislike of LR products, and I know I've said this a ton of times just in this thread - RRs stand alone in my mind, in the best way possible.

Re: Range Rovers
Thanks guys, right now that's the strategy - I'm sure when it need 50% of the purchase price spending to fix something I'll have a different view of it!
Famous last words, but I reckon £500 on cosmetics should sort it.

Re: Range Rovers
£6k for the RR, so you have another £10k in your budget before taking it to the same price of a new Jimny.

Re: Range Rovers
The turbo oil and return lines can build up with carbon and are a good item to check.
From me.ory the now closed Footloose 4x4 changed a lot of turbos and alter alternators.
Still want one but not going to do the job we need it to do sadly.
Dave!

Also needs a new head unit - has nav & DVD/TV and rear view camera but it's all woefully out of date - i think an android HU with carplay or something will bring it up to date pretty quickly.

Have a look at these for something that doesn't wreck the appearance of the cabin:hoyleyboyley wrote: Tue Sep 18, 2018 11:58 am Also needs a new head unit - has nav & DVD/TV and rear view camera but it's all woefully out of date - i think an android HU with carplay or something will bring it up to date pretty quickly.

I think you've just redefined 'a lot of car for the money'.
Left over crest; tightens.
