Never would I. Merely contextualising the number.

Car has been authorised for repair.
By 30th May.
I've asked if they can check whether the local actual BMW workshop can process it any faster.

And this is why you change the DISA valve:

Chap on PH had a call from his mate about his 130i running rough. Checked coils and plugs, a few sensors, and then wondered if it might be the DISA that had broken up. Sure enough - they found the flap in the intake manifold but not the shaft. Eventually found it with a borescope, holding the inlet valve of Cyl #6 open
They managed to get it out apparently and it seems to be running fine.
Given that my old one felt solid I wasn't expecting much from the new one, but the old bum dyno is definitely reporting much sharper throttle response is. There's even a bit more bark at the top end, which has me wondering whether the old one was both slow to open and not opening fully.
Tempted to have a go at the more difficult small one now.

Next time have him inhale *a lot* of helium. That'll help.

It started as my personal project but morphed into something much bigger as the years went by and I’ve since started a new business and brought two other guys on board. Plan is to launch it to the public some time this year and hopefully get to build some more for other people. Hopefully having Chris Harris drive it will be all the publicity it needs.

Fair play, that would definitely be a massive boost!

Agh, I wasn’t getting senile and forgetting to close doors properly. The 6 series was flat as a pancake again this morning. I’m hoping it’s something simple but not confident. You open the boot and remove the trim and there’s miles of tiny cables - I’ve got no chance.
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: Your fleet running reports
It's been a while but a few fleet updates:
Boxster passed its MOT, need to decide whether I pay someone to clean, machine polish and ceramic coat it ready for sale.
XC40 went back to the leasing company. It's not been a bad old bus aside from the ropey powered tailgate struts. It's been replaced with a brand new Skoda Kodiaq. So far, I'm impressed. The interior surprisingly doesn't feel like a step down from the Volvo, standard equipment is decent and there are lots of really nice typical Skoda features.
928 - I've just replaced the fuel breather Y connector in the front driver's side wheel well. Bodyshop had bodged a fix for the broken connector, which was sort of holding together, but as I had a brand new OEM part, I decided to do it properly. Might tackle the speaker replacement next. I have new speakers ready to go in, but it's going to be a faff job.

If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Mate who has a 2023 XC90 was commenting at the weekend that they just looked at a Kodiaq and thought it was great.

Mine's the "base" SE model, so cloth seats not leather but aside from that it's got everything you'd ordinarily need. The two wireless charging slots are particularly handy and the car reminds you if you accidentally leave your phone in the charger when you get out of the car.

This is an English voice that says "Remember your mobile phone that's in the right charger slot"

Cloth Seats are better than leather anyway. Cloth wears better, feels better and doesn't have the issue of extreme temperatures.Delphi wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 3:15 pmMine's the "base" SE model, so cloth seats not leather but aside from that it's got everything you'd ordinarily need. Not great for sicky kids or clawy pets, mind.

My wife has an SE as well, cracking family/dog car. First new car I've driven that I didn't dislike the touch screen controls and lack of buttons.Delphi wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 3:15 pmMine's the "base" SE model, so cloth seats not leather but aside from that it's got everything you'd ordinarily need. Like the Yeti we had Skoda seemed to have nailed this market.
Re: Your fleet running reports
I still recall the pain of getting my Leon ready for sale one weekend, heading off on business on the Monday and prepping an ad to post around the Thursday and allow me to take viewings from Friday evening onwards once I was back home. It was spotless inside and out. Perfect.
On the Tuesday mrs mik advised me that she had decided to take the Leon rather than her car - for absolutely no reason whatsoever - and my eldest sprog had thrown up all over the (fabric) rear seat.

Delayed my ad by about 2 weeks as I had to do multiple passes with the wet-vac to get rid of the bloody stench.....

Re: Your fleet running reports
Parts availability is why it's gonna take so long - who'd have thought that a bluetooth combobox used in likely literally millions of cars across the F-series range would be so hard to source....
They seemed to offer 'using parts the dealer network may already have in stock' which sounds like used to me, so I've told them if they can warranty it as per the usual (five years etc) then I'd not be averse to that.
I'm fucking desperate to get this problem out of what's left of my hair.
Edit: Also they still don't have a full estimate for the work (the police have been asking me for this to make sure the resultant costs are noted correctly) despite apparently having an estimate last Tuesday? Er....and you authorised the work without that? Eesh.
